Blade Vortex can cause bleeding?
So i was looking for a way to cause bleeding with blade vortex so that i can make full use of the 4 ascendancy point with Noxious Strike and Toxic Delivery and something call my atention the unique claw Rive which says "Causes Bleeding on Hit" not on attack or anything that imply that it need to be an attack instead of a spell......and there is items that says:
Melee Critical Strikes cause Bleeding Melee Critical Strikes have 25% chance to cause Bleeding but Rive says only that "Causes Bleeding on Hit" so it doesnt matter with what you hit you will cause bleeding right?as long as you are using the claw on off-hand your blade vortex or bladefall should be able to make monsters bleed......does anyone have tried that already? Cause its easy to just assume it only apply bleed with attacks but its not saying that on the item description and right now i still need the 4 ascendancy point and a couple lvls to be able to use the claw......can anyone confirm this? Mods that are on weapons are generally local to the weapon. Mods on rings like that are generally global.
Also, Blade Vortex is a spell, spells dont "hit". Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in! Labyrinth salt farm miner. "But my build diversity" , "Game is too hard!" - Meta drone playing the same 1-3 builds for years. Last edited by Tin_Foil_Hat#0111 on Jun 12, 2016, 4:17:06 PM

"Spells hit, otherwise they couldn't be blocked, dodged, or Fortified against. Especially Blade Vortex hits quite a bit! Edit: Easy proof that spells hit, just look at Cybil's Paw, it clearly states that spells hit. But, the mod on Rive is a local mod. Afaik there is currently no way to cause spells to bleed. If there were, I think every bladefall mine build would probably use it. builds: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1663570/ Last edited by ThatsSoGoodman#2702 on Jun 12, 2016, 4:47:26 PM

"Go put on Blade vortex and use Life gain on hit. Spells DO NOT HIT, which is why you cannot benefit from such gems. Cybils paw is an exception and its precisely why it has a mod that states that. Edit - I better clarify. Theres on hit mods that CAN affect spells but many do not unless specifically stated to do so. Yes, a spell hits but it doesnt "hit". Its one of path of exiles weird wording things. Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in! Labyrinth salt farm miner. " Life Gain on Hit doesn't work with spells, but not because they do not hit (they can). It's because LGoH is limited to attacks. "Life gained for each enemy hit by Supported Attack" - here's my sig

"This, so much this. Try Curse on Hit, works on tons of spells, including Blade Vortex. |

Damaging spells hit unless they are purely damage-over-time (Righteous Fire).
The "Causes Bleeding on Hit" modifier is local to the weapon. To my knowledge there aren't any bleed modifiers in the game that work with spells: they're either local to a weapon or specify either "melee" or "attacks." |
