grand spectrum crazyness?
poeurl.com/D5s the basic 9 jewel sockets with only 49 points used
poeurl.com/D5v 21 jewel sockets? just for fun and calculation. 15-30-45-60-75-90-105-120-135-150-165-180-195-210-225-240-255-270-285-300-315 multiple every number by the number of jewels you have gets you: 15-60-135-240-375-540-735-960-1215-1500-1815-2160-2535-2940-3375-3840-4335-4860-5415-6000-6615 a whopping 6615 mana multiplied by a multiplier of 150% = 16537 where 150% should be possible if we use 10 jewel sockets you would end up with the numbers in the final multiplier 15x10x10 where one 10 is the jewel socket you would end up with and the seond one is the number of times we would multiple each, this could give you 1500 mana which if used with the guardian class you could probably end up with over 4000 mana reserved which would equil 600 energy shield to all allies. if we decide to do the same calculations with the armour jewel instead we should only have to multiple each number by another 5 giving us a value of 15x10x10x5 or 75x10x10. if we would be using 10 like in the examples, you could probably expect to end up with around 7500 armour which is allready enough by itself to grant you a decent 60-85% defence. if you would add on another 150% armour you would end up with 18750. once again a number that would make any characters without actually armour on their gear capable of mitigating 80-95% damage or so making them close to immune to physical damage with 0 investment in other gear types. what if you had around 250% inc armour, 8000 armour on gear with the juggernaut double chest armour node and the 18750 armour provided by the jewels? also don't forget some all arounder upgrades and the 3000 flat armour+100% flask. i do belieave you could end up with a whopping 120000+ armour, probably 150000. so will you do it? probably not... why? because the limit is 90% and you only need like 15-25k in order to reach that numbers of sustainability without the flask. what about the elemental damage? here we would need a new scaling for it to work or reduce all the numbers 15/75 by their respective reduction in order to reach 6... so if you had 21 you could end up with 126% for all jewels + another x10 making it 1260%, you will most likely not do this tho. so lets say you have 2 mana jewels, 3 armour jewels and 5 ele damage jewels. what would you end up with? you will probably expect a final number of 2250 armour, 300 mana and 300% ele damage. so you would probably have another 50-100% armour and 50-100% mana totaling at 3375 armour or 4500 and 450-600 mana with 80-90% mana being reserved ending up at (1400)-90% =140 where the final mana would be enough to sustain most skills efficiently without having to worry about hitting 0 any time soon. lastly you have a 300% ele damage. exactly how much is 300%? im not an expert but i do belieave hitting 300% by normal means isn't impossible, keep in mind that you gain the 300% from 10 jewels, 5 being the ele jewels to sum up, what is the end result of this post? well the caculation gives us a 90% mana sustain at 1400 which is 600+the base 800 which most characters probably end up at, where 140 mana is usable for skills and such. you also end up with 4500 armour which is above 50% giving you a nice phys mitigation. also not forgetting to mention you use 3 jewels only+ the other 7 you have placed out having space for more gear of different types such as more armour, evasion or energy shield. lastly you end up with 300% in ele damage from 5 jewels. we can cast skills unhindered. we gain mitigation to phys damage which is a threat to casters, we gain a high elemental damage ratio which provides us with the same damage we could get from none jewel slots. and most importantly all of this may or may not look impressive but don't forget they are all granted from a few passive nodes on skill tree and 10 jewels slots yo can easily reach. we so much space over you have the capability of running a full set of powerful gear granting you a massive boost to energy shield or evasion, life and/or dodge, with the rest of your focus spent on flat elemental damage. you can successfully run a ele buzzsaw character facetanking with 50%+ phys mitigation and 80% evasion+ dodge and possible block, you would also end up with a passive tree scaling avoiding most damage nodes to keep you safe and gaining additional buffs like crit chance, attack speed, movement speed and more. are the jewels worth your time? Deffinitly. are the jewels to weak? far from. are the jewels op? at this moment, i would say so. how many players are expected to use these jewels? probably everyone who has access to jewel sockets. high demand and value? totally depends on the previous statement and their drop rates. i would say yes and dependable, knowing the demand, they would be worth alot and if ggg releases the jewels that are easily accessable, the first few days and weeks would put the prices at a few chaos worth where a comming update would put the price up at like 10+ chaos where for each one you buy in bulk, the price might even rise itself since it depends on the number you have and they are technically giving you 4 jewels for only 2 or 3 for the cost of 2 jewels sockets. either way, i might have made many mistakes, i have deffinitly wrote way to much and put to few resting points where my english isn't perfect and my choice of words and all around complex information is lacking. most of these just takes time but i thought, why not? the jewels will probably become a main topic that at this point could be gamechanging. I usually do not read popular posts again after i made a comment on it, unless it's one of my own. The thing is, those jewels are worth nothing if you use less than 7 of them. From 8 onward they become exponentially better, but you have to spend tons of skill points to get jewel sockets. Not only do extra jewels (specially past 10) become harder to get (many travel points) but you are also using points in there instead of the life/whatever ones that you have already available.
Do you know how hard is to get even a minor 100% increased armor if you are spending most of your skill points to get 15-20 jewel sockets? And you are getting 0% life while doing so. Imo, the jewels will be quite good and give a nice new kind of build (focusing on jewel stacking) but won't be OP (outside of maybe uber-glass-elemental-cannon, but I play HC and reflect is also a thing). And as for the armor jewels, they are probably best used in small numbers when you have tons of Grand Spectrumg Jewels because each gives you the same armor as a good chest, but again, is hard to have many % armor increases if you are going for a Grand Spectrum build that is traveling to tons of jewel sockets. Also, the 90% Armor Cap is a lie and is not an actual % but an aproximation. You always "need" more armor to reduce the bigger hits. Just check the armor formula. But 90% Phys Mitigation from Armor won't mitigate 90% of the phys damage you take. It will depend on how strong the hit was. |

I will probably use the elemetal damage ones, armour and mana ones are pretty meh to me. Also BabyRage, no physical variant.

The Armour ones will be great for builds that require Evasion or ES chest pieces for sockets (or unique effects in the case of uniques), because you can build up quite a good amount of base armour without needing actual armour on gear, but by sacrificing on the tree.
As someone said, without 8 jewel sockets, it's not really worth it compared to other nodes. I'd say they're really well designed, especially compared to most other unique jewels (which IMO are too undertuned to prevent abuse). The great thing is that it kind of balances itself because it inherently needs lots of investment to work, or it does almost nothing. If more jewels had innate restrictions/weaknesses that could be undone by investment, they would be a lot better. Static Electricity is a good example of how jewels should scale. |

"what about this? just a basic idea tho, nothing special. an ele build of some sort, can most likely run anything related to elemental, especially elemental attackers, it has defences overall and uses max points I usually do not read popular posts again after i made a comment on it, unless it's one of my own. I would plan an ele build around these, because 15 Jewels is reasonably easy, and 15 Jewels at 6% each is:
15*15*6 = 1350% increased elemental damage. Which is so mental it's not even funny. So they will definitely nerf it. So It's not really worth wasting time and money collecting so many of the jewels. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

" Clearly I don't understand how hard it is. You don't need any damage nodes, just get life/es nodes + jewels. Seems easy enough to me. Note you get a lot of int/str when pathing for jewels too, which helps survivability.
