It's not that chaos conversion is so good, its because reflect is so bad.

Reflect is in this game for a reason, so there is a counter to insane dps ranged builds. Chaos conversion shows exactly what the game would be like without any reflect. Mindless spam with no threat.

I do not feel bad about the nerf at all... I said this day would come about 2 months ago.
That being said... I will sure be missing my time of 1 shotting uber wearing a tabula rasa with my (4L+2L) 6 socket voltaxic. The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

" No threat...? Rangers are usually glasscannons compared to most other builds. Not that there would be need for a stupid mechanic like reflect. You need sufficient damage in late game, whatever build or class you play. And also it is not as if VP makes you entirely immortal - when you don´t leech, don´t move enough, you usually die. With some boss fights you´ll have to take much more care about dodging and movement...Mathils Voltax LA build is as sensitive to beeing one shot as Tshot ranger. Think this is enough to balnace things out, no need for silly outdated reflect. And for other ranged builds like kinetic blast and so on...i don´t see a big difference. You´ll just not do t14+ maps with "mindless spam". Or you´ll just not level beyond 93 because of frustrating one shot deaths. I find it always funny how many haters there are that always pick on the ranged chars. First people used to say the same things about Neversinks Tornado Shot build... Neither it has op defenses nor a big life pool. Sure Voltax Lightning arrow is a strong build, but why would i play it - if there was no shitty reflect in the game? There would be no reason at all, unless Voltax is cheaper to buy than a high PDPS based crit bow. You can actually way outdamage the voltax build with a good phys crit bow. Stupid reflect mechanics also affect a variety of non ranged builds and in general limit the variety of possible builds out there. So should we not have "insane DPS" if you consider 100-150k dps is already "insane"? Unless your not ranged? I do see the point that a melee char should be able to do more damage, but we kind of require insane DPS for just any kind of build that should be endgame viable. Unless we want this game to be very slow and boring. So why is there endgame content with bosses with shittons of life then? Yes, i do also not think that we need mechanics that can one shot high tier bosses - but thats another story. That bashing on ranged chars "just because"...all the time - i can´t hear that anymore. Why don´t you just stop giving a wet **it about what others play unless your a PVPer ;-)) Funny is that GGG put all those mechanics in there in the first place...buffing the poison mechanics to what they are atm, throwing the ascendancy classes at us that make so many other builds op atm...to just figure out after a while that the builds that can be created with these new options are "too op". And as others said here...there will always be an OP mechanic. Remove one mechanic or rebalance it, new items and skill tree changes will create a new "gap". Its like most tax systems. Someone fill find a gap and use it. As GGG as it seems will never settle for a "final" skill tree, all items will have to be constantly re-balanced.... guess we shall just get used to that. |

I saw this coming too. Can't complain...I built my bow wielding spellcaster and did EZ mode for awhile.
Yes, it's true that you still have to dodge things. a bit. and leech. sorta. I don't even have to aim with my build...I spam it a few times and little sparks fill the room and mobs melt. It is by far the easiest build I have played to date. LA builds are a bit different. I won't turn this into a discussion on the various Chaos build types, but it was pretty obvious that something needed to happen. And just as I knew something needed to happen, I also knew that some would be frustrated by the change. Some folks are honestly frustrated that their different builds won't work, some are frustrated because they are FoTM players, and this is pretty common reaction from them. But it was bound to happen. something as powerful as chaos damage is difficult to balance around, despite what players think. reminds me of paladins in WoW...took them 3-4 expansions to get then even playable from a balanced perspective, and part of it was they had powerful mechanics that other classes didn't. But yeah, I knew it was coming the second I put on my bow and watched mobs melt. Thought to myself, "this is too easy. FoTM caliber. Nerf incoming." the downside to it is it also allowed other elemental builds to get to a place that they deserved. I think that GGG also needs to make sure that they aren't undermining other builds and playstyles that were relying on the chaos as a crutch.
