Alternate Art Recipe
"Yeah, thats note true at all. Ive asked plenty of said "people" if they have theirs for sale and they constantly say no. People arent racing to sell them, very few sell them. The fact that you think people race to sell them is actually kinda funny because you can quite literally go to POE trade and find pretty much none for sale. Currency is infinite, exclusive rewards are not. Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

" Because ppl are hoarding it, Alt Arts never go down in price, more likly they go up. Also selling them duing the current season wont bring as much as they bring half-one year after the season ;) So ppl that are buying them will try to get the deals during the season. also poe.trade usually takes time to update for new alt-arts, and that takes some month aswell. And some racers are pming me everytime in the middle of a season after reaching the 500+pts if i want to buy their rewards, maybe u not offering good enough for them. If they wanted to make alternative art available again and available to non racers it would have to reflect how hard it is to obtain. I would suggest alternate art items can drop but be very rare. Every time an alphas howl drops there could be a 1 in 500 chance that it's alt art, since it took 500 points to achieve.
It would give players another chance to strike gold like finding a shiny Pokemon. It would also set a price for these items. I will repeat myself from earlier, I only race to get alternate art items for myself to keep. I know there are plenty of others who keep the items they get as well. I would gladly destroy my alternate art to use it again on temp leagues as a skin. This idea shouldn't be done in any form.
A lot of people commenting here do not race very much. To get the 500 pt race rewards you either do a ton of races or are very good and can place against streamers who play all the time. I do think it should be easier for casuals and people with time constraints to get the 500 pt (1000 should only be for top racers) but making any of it available as normal drops or recipes isn't cool. Having them on a new race season for the same point rewards is going to cause the same issue where very few people can get the upper tiers. " i see your point of view some months ago one of my "friend" "stole" my trade because i didnt have pure exa but only 2 mirrors and when i asked him to exchange my mirrors for exa at the price we was buying mirrors ( i would have exchanged back ), he simply bought the alt art i wanted even if i contacted the sellers before of him some people probably have 5-6 pieces of the same 500+exa alt art item or demigod presence for example and will never sell them because alt art is the only thing that will never devalue at the moment you can get alt art by buying them from flippers 3-4 times the price they paid for them 1-2 years ago, win them by doing races or buy them immediately after the race season ends from those who sell them, it's a so small market that mtx skin for alt art it's going to be a big waste of resources Last edited by InAshesTheyShallReap#0055 on Apr 25, 2016, 10:59:55 AM

If this happens, watch the alpha howl go up to 50ex a piece lol. Why? because obviously we have some very greedy players who love to hoard virtual currency. I look at history of the world, and any time the people in power become too greedy, and the poor get tired of it, an overthrow happens and the loot gets divided. Wouldn't it be interesting to see the responses if GGG implemented something like that if you have say over 100 ex on an account you can be raided? Think of it. " Well you would be able to turn any item into a skin, it isn't limited to the alternate art items only. Chris had mentioned either here or reddit they were working on it, so I see it happening at some point. The bigger issue is the racing schedule is shit for most people. I work from home half the week so I can do more races than usual, but you also have people from EU getting shafted most seasons with the absolutely terrible times. I probably wouldn't race either if most races were in the middle if the night. |

" Exactly. It has been stated multiple times during each race season that race rewards feature alternate art, only available to that season. This would be a total slap in the face to all those players that participated and dedicated themselves to get the best possible ranking. Quote from Chris himself on the race rewards: The prizes are a variety of existing unique items and a very upgradable base item type (Coral Ring) that all have alternate art in-game. These particular pieces of special artwork are only available from this season of race events - other seasons will have different items.
