" If we go by your logic then Elemental Focus and Controlled Destruction still win out as they provide 49% and 44% MORE damage but Fire Pen only 37%. 3.3 RF Trickster SSF HC guide : https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2147256 Last edited by Rusherboy#5889 on Mar 31, 2016, 8:43:59 AM

" But close to nothing, if you face something that has 75% resistances. :=) Precisely: 44%/4=11% more damage 49%/4=12.25% more damage So yeah, fair point there, but you should aim to have a reliable main skill - with CD or EF you will deal a little bit more damage to monsters which has no resistances (compared to Fire Pen), and very low damage to those who have resistances. It might be a better idea to balance it out, and deal good damage to everything, as a first prority. :P Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance. Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge. Last edited by Perq#4049 on Mar 31, 2016, 8:49:25 AM

I really agree on Fire Pen being very important. In the early days of Flame Totem meta few patches ago, I always recommended Fire Pen over Iron Will wich was popular back then.
When levelling you get more out of EF, CD and FC. When mapping and doing end game content, then FP is more important. 3.3 RF Trickster SSF HC guide :

" Just wanted you to know that your build inspired me, and I'm doing a variation of this. The only true difference will be my class and that I will cast three totems + selfcast instead of dual totem ancestral bond :D Will post more specific info later. I already used all of my regrets and refunds from quests, need few more to repair my tree, but still better than playing all over again. I thought about this after I bought Infernal Mantle for 2C, will use it with 5 sockets until I will have a loooot of orbs to make it 6L. |
