A question about what 'budget' means when it comes to builds

Say someone says there's a required unique for a build to be very effective, eg EQ and Marohi Erqi. Does that mean I could play a different build with the same skill tree, and just switch to EQ once I have the currency for Marohi Erqi? Or does it mean it's better to play a completely different class/build that requires NO special items, eg a totem build - then when I have the currency for Marohi I start a Marauder for EQ?

Sorry If I've confused people :/!

Marohi Erqi isn't necessary for an Earthquake build, and some would argue that it isn't even all that good for one. It's a "budget" option. Aka, it's cheap and has good "bang for your buck."

As for what budget means, it means that it is a cheap build, that can easily be made as a casual player.

Another meaning could just be what the total expected cost of gear would be, ie."3ex budget for this build."

Most normal builds have about a 1-4ex budget, which is quite easy to attain just playing normally.

Budget builds are generally builds that are in the 1-5ex range and operate on a 5L.

Anything above that I do not think anyone can call a budget build really.

Am I correct in thinking you can accumulate that from a base character?

Easy, even buy farming currency only.

By the time I level a Character to the point where I am about to start Mapping, I've got at least around 2-3ex worth of Currency. So yes, it is able to accumulate by just playing.

Make sure you know all the Vendor Recipes, ie. Chromatic linked items, 6-Sockets, Chaos Recipe, Stone Hammers, Quality Flask, etc.

Having an Item Filter is nice, as it hides useless stuff and shows generally what you'd want to pick up. (I'd personally recommend Sayyadina's, that's the one I use, with some slight modifications. It keeps the base PoE feel/aesthetic.)

Oh nice!

What do you mean by vendor recipes? Forgive my ignorance, I think I've missed out a big part of the game.... :o Unless I know what it is, but just by something different.

Also, what's difference with Sayydina's to Neversink's?
If you are asking specifically for 2H, 2H is prob. the cheapest / easiest build to create. Decent 2H-ers drop all the time, so you can SF your weapons until you accumulate enough orbs to buy a Marohi (or whatever).

No need to do a "farming" character beforehand, just go straight with the build. You can get to maps with a 4L.
