HC RIPs - your reaction?

When you RIP in HC, what is your reaction? How long do you stare blankly and motionless at the "resurrect in town" ? (really curious about this one as I have stared at the screen for almost 5 minutes before...) Do you immediately re-roll, or take the night to collect your thoughts? Does RIPPing a HC char cause you to dwell on it hours after? How do you handle it?

When I RIP, I unknowingly do the same thing each time, in order:
1. Fling/flip my mouse upside down in anger 2. Slowly lower my head to my desk for a few seconds, and then bring myself to the screen again 3. Stare at the "Resurrect in town" button for anywhere from 1-5 minutes. 4. I sometimes alt+f4 real quick to see if maybe, just maybe, the game glitched and I didn't lose my character...I never click that button. Maybe if I don't click it...its not real. Maybe I'll keep my char. |

React differently each time. I usually dump my gear into a growing pile of used stuff I call my "trophy stash" and delete the character. On occasion, I've re-tried the encounter a few times in Standard, but typically not.
I'll often take a break for a day or more before starting a new project. Depends. I've got a character in mind that I might even start before the current one dies... a rarity for me to be playing two different characters at once. |

I pretty much resurrect immediately, stash anything of value, vendor the rest, delete character, go smoke a cigarette and play softcore until I forget how much of a pain in the ass hardcore is.
Sound the dread alarm, through the primal body! Sound the reveille, to be or not to be. Rise! Stay the grand finale! Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue. One drive to stay alive! Elementary, muster every fiber. Mobilize! Stay alive!

Every time I launch PoE now, Steam displays a random RIP screen from the past as PoE's background image, and I get to fondly recall whatever character it was that ripped, while being reminded to avoid whatever it was that killed that character. My favorite is seeing Ossecati and his gang of merry skellies, who one-shot my KB wander during a flashback league. Still remember that RIP-- couldn't do anything but laugh at myself for letting a 42% movespeed character get dunked on by the giantest of giant skellies. |
