Enchantments are Evenly Weighted. Why?

You're missing one thing in your calculation: EV for time out of your life wasted vs time spent in a valuable way.

Hence the reason I don't play POE anymore. Back to stalking the forums once a week though. I wonder if I'll ever get around to playing this patch? Judging from the labyrinth feedback, probably not. My "EV" is better spent on literally any other game.

Going off topic for a minute, I would really suggest trying it yourself and not going off the feedback, because personally, the majority of the feedback hasn't even come close to matching my experience

here is a simple logical chain:

1) time spent enjoying something is not wasted
2) I enjoy playing poe and I enjoy grinding

thus, none of time in poe is wasted to me. if you are playing a game and not enjoying it, you shouldnt play the game. I know I wouldnt. so, you are doing the right thing. EV is meaningless here because you can argue that in anything (playing poker, trading stock, etc)

just because something is in the game, does not mean it should be easily achievable. that perfect enchantment is another small carrot for people to grind and RNG about. as someone who likes grinding, I like it. if you dont like grinding, well you gonna have a bad time (obviously)

]I understand your point. you are probably new to the game (judging by your join date, excuse me if youve played it before), but poe is always like that to people who dont like grinding- you'll realize it at some point.

you "beat" pure RNG by brute forcing (ie, grinding) long enough either to get what you want or buy what you want by grinding currency. thats how it works in this game.

cheers ! good to see a fellow dev btw !

Absolutely right. I am new. Only heard about the game about a month ago.

And if this is true and huge rng ranges are a design philosophy, I'll just approach it the same I approach uniques as a self-found player: I get what I get, I make do with what I get and I get as far as can with a character until I decide to reroll a new build.

But given that a lot of uniques have bonuses that can be applied to a variety of skill selections and these are very specific to certain skills, I hope they will consider improving the odds somewhat.

Edited: Also, referencing the comparison to uniques, a lot of them I can get by doing a variety of content. The chance to acquire them is inherit to playing the game to some extent. But in this case, I have a very specific action over and over again if I want to roll the dice to get an enchantment.

I have to say that if i imagine to get a particular enchant from the lab i feel somehow depressed. If i think that i can just sell a good enchanted item and buy one i need i feel pretty much relieved.
For an Emperor to be just, an Emperor must be patient.
