One easy way for them to price the uniques is by rarity tier.

Yesterday a guildie asked if 35 coins for Goldrim were worth it, so your calculations seem to be way off.

My prediction was 1c = 100p,
his was a pessimistic guess, given how GGG used to have higher NPC costs.

Currently 1c seems settled around 50p.
This would have been my optimistic guess,
since why bother buying a item from a NPC,
if it's the same cost or higher if bought from a player.

Good thing GGG made the right call and kept the rates low and attractive.
At least for starter items and early content.
Haven't made it to merc yet, and don't know how fast/many coins can be farmed casually.

Bumped into taste of hate in cruel ebony barracks on sale for 8900 coins.
Again, as I first predicted high tier uniques tens of thousands, would have been spot on 18-20k.
But they cut all costs in half across the board just to avoid all the rage and hate.

So, I was right ;)

Got 3c for 127 coins from perandus today btw, to set the market price in perspective. Seems about right for a one-time offer.

You cannot base coins off items from the NPC, that is retarded. I mean Maligaros Virtuos was 350 coins and the amount can be more or less depending on where you find the NPC.

I have been seeing a trend in the market lately.

Seems like

50coins = 1C / 100coins = 1C (it has been up and down between that range)
