More Equipment slots?
I'd love it if we could have, in addition to gloves and armour, shoulder armour and bracers. In a game like this where it is an item hunt, more slots for item hunting is awesome.
Obviously it would require balancing out the rest of the equipment, but I think it would add to the game. You don't want to make it too difficult and too complex, but in my humble opinion, a few more gear slots would enhance the game. As a thought, maybe make a few slots only become available as characters progress through difficulty levels. Keep it as it is now, and only in later difficulties do you get shoulder armor, bracers, etc. That keeps it from getting too complex for new players, but keeps it fresh as they progress. It could make upper level difficulties more meaningful, and you wouldn't have to change the graphics any. It would just be added bonuses, but of course, if you wanted to do so, there could be graphics changes. Last edited by aerows#3034 on Jan 2, 2012, 12:14:01 AM

This is something that gets brought up from time to time. There are already a lot of equipment slots and gear types in PoE. It can be difficult to find the specific gear that you want. Adding even more items would just dilute the gear drops even more for little actual benefit. I'd rather have a new game mechanic than just more straight gear.

" It's an easy way to make the game more meaningful at higher levels, though, and allows the freedom of making the game more difficult. It IS a mechanic, if you think about it, one that doesn't require the investment of new graphics, etc. It gives players something to shoot for, too. I suggest it as not a panacea for being a godlike character, but more of an incentive to progress to the next difficulty level. |

I think we have the right number already.

" Sure we do, but if you had another slot to fill once you hit the next stage of character building (difficulty level), are you going to tell me that you aren't going to do your damndest to keep playing until you find something to put there? Last edited by aerows#3034 on Jan 2, 2012, 12:21:25 AM

" Yep, we need a pants slot, but that entails more graphics. What I am suggesting is another equipment slot that you access as your character moves through difficulty levels, one that doesn't require graphics changes, like bracers, shin guards, shoulder armour. You can only get that equipment in the difficulty level or higher, and it's just another slot. It could be offered as greyed out depending on the difficulty level, and a tantalizing offering of what new players could have as they got to higher levels of difficulty. A bank of three ring like slots that represent the three upper levels, and at each level you could put the equipment there. Last edited by aerows#3034 on Jan 2, 2012, 1:11:59 AM

This is perhaps something for an expansion, not something that should be added right now =P

I agree that there should be more gear slots. We're looking at D1 gearslots here. Always amazes me when a game with a boring item system (WoW) has twice as many gearslots. They got the gearslots right but for the wrong game. Here with PoE we have the right item game with the wrong number of gear slots. Pretty sad.
Disagree with making them open up later, thats just more work for them for no good reason. Also disagree that Leggings entails new art but somehow Bracers and Shoulders don't. What? " Strongly disagree with every single statement there. They are all benefits, not detriments, in an itemhunt game. It's disheartening to read from tpapp, as it probly means the status quo gearslot-wise is very likely. That's a shame. Mercenaries: 99

Many games have pants, bracers, shoulder pads.
Mythos had Shirts. Dwarf Fortress allows you to wear multiple layers of cloths on top of each other. Im all up for increasing the depth and complexity and effort required to max itemization and more ways to fuck up balance. After all, Im the player.
