Beacon of Corruption (Witch/Necromancer) (Zombie/Spectre)
" I just realized something. I have been doing this to calculate - Flat Raise Zombie HP + Montregul's, then multiply life %, then add combined flat hp again. I've been doing the same with the damage portion. Is that not correct to do? IGN: AuraMeThis

There's already a topic on this. I've calculated 90k dps with spectres.

You actually calculated a lot higher. With a few more assumptions than me. TBH I never even thought of spectres, (Which is kind of a noob mistake) but I didn't think they'd get more life than a Raise Zombie. You also missed out on some types of damage: I.E. Jewels, Heartbound Loops, and Leer Cast. Though I don't know if all are needed. Also I was going on the assumption you would want to decrease the AoE, but with Maligaro's Lens and 2x Heartbound Loops I don't think there would be much difference and a huge increase in dps. Thanks for the idea. I hope you don't mind, but I'll be stealing some of your math for this. I will give you full credit though. Just want to keep everything nice and neat ;)

Added in Raise Spectre using TheLoniestMonk's math and assumptions on Vodmythic's thread

So... all of these threads work on the assumption that recasting to change minions without letting them die naturally will proc the effect right?
Seems to me that there is no middle ground - either clouds will be released on resummon (or spectre recast), in which case it will be the most OP shit ever, or they won't, in which case the talent is as worthless as minion instability is right now. Right? |

" Well, to be honest, I thought the same thing at first as well. But, in reality, even without Resummoning triggering on death commands it is still very viable. Zombies and Spectres are raised on the corpse targeted. Desecrate allows for corpses to be spawned just about anywhere you want. So even with boss fights, or sticky situations of long range battles, you can still summon your minions exactly where you'll need them the most. I'm not a summoner, haven't played one since closed beta, but from streams I've watched and games I've grouped with them, any melee creature they create seems to die at least, on average, a decent amount. Speccing into Beacon of Corruption without Resummoning triggering on death command's is just kind of like icing on the cake. It doesn't seem to change the summoner's build really at all that much and just gives them "MORE" damage per second. "IF" Resummoning does trigger on death commands, it would I believe be 1) A nice mechanic. Since you could proc your on death commands anytime you want. 2) Be really confusing. Because resummoning a minion with several minions out, doens't mean you will be placing your Caustic Cloud exactly where you want it to be each and everytime. It would be hit or miss depending on how many minions you have out. But, being very honest, without actually testing we'll never know. Though I do believe it would work. The way it is worded (Beacon of Corruption) is worded exactly the same way in Soul Mantle (Unique Chest for Totems). And that is how Soul Mantle mechanics work. Hey, it's totally fine that you incorporated my math into your thread, you've made it a lot more neat than i care to ;)
So, a couple of things: 1. I tested (very basicly) some monster life. First i went to dried lake and hit mobs with a default phys attack with 2500-3500 damage range. almost all mobs required 2 or more hits. Some mobs have a lot higher health than others, but my estimate is that most normal white mobs had between 5-8k life. Now, this is in a lvl 68 zone. Then i went to some tier 7-8 maps (lvl 74-75) and did the same thing. Here the avg HP was about 8-10k i would say. Then i went to a Volcano map (77) and the avg HP was over 10k which made me pretty happy :) Take that to a lvl 80 zone and i can definately see an avg hp of 15k or more, which is 50% more than i used in my example calculations. Now mobs armour value might impact this test in a negative way, because the more armour mitigation they have, the less i'm hitting them for = mobs have less real life values. Keep that in mind. 2. The wording on Beacon of Corruption made me think that they could have just copy pasted the effect of the rotting zombies, so i went to Chamber of Sins and killed a lot of zombies :P - I do not hope it is exactly the same as their effect. The AOE is really small and the duration is around 2sec, with a 1 sec delay from death until the cloud actually starts degening. Another example off the top of my head would be Beyond mobs, and if i recall correctly at least they last longer. All in all we'll have to wait and see. I really have my doubts about clear speed and the mechanics/AI for maps and spectres are probably not gonna be the optimal for map clearing. But for something like atziri/uber atziri, i think that is where this could truly shine. :) Last edited by TheLoneliestMonk#5972 on Feb 27, 2016, 12:03:10 PM

A couple more points :P
Raise spectre at lvl 20 has 10% more dmg on itself which you haven't used for your calculation. Also you calculate 332% inc minion damage and then multiply by 3,32, which should be 4,32. So if you want to run all those uniques you are gonna be doing more damage than what i was calculating with. I don't think you should count on playing this if resummoning isn't counted as minion death (which i'm pretty sure it will, that is how you create a loop with heartbound loop + cwdt skeletons). We are already scaling minion life like crazy, waiting for them to die would not be good gameplay ;) The good thing about spectres is that you can only have 1 and you don't want to increase that number. With one you can double cast spectres to control where you want the degen. I'm kinda worried about the minion AI though. A spectre can be pretty fast and not always go where you want before you are able to resummon it :P If using spectres as the main skill you probably wanna count on using a 5L and would probably cut rapid decay + conc effect and put in inc aoe. Hopefully the damage will still be there, but at that point it might be better to let the spectre(s) live and try and doing cloud damage with zombies Chober chaber might be a good idea if you want a second 5/6Link. It also depends on how close you have to be to your minion when they die to get that 2% life from them. 2% of 40k life is 800 life. Not bad, not fantasticly OP either i would say. you should probably put Animate guardian in your +2 minion helmet with the leer cast + dying breath. Just a few notes ;) Last edited by TheLoneliestMonk#5972 on Feb 27, 2016, 12:51:10 PM

Why you guys still calculate with rapid decay? Sure it is working? What about minion damage? Will that really increase the dmg of the cloud?
I think "resummoning" should be like "dying" but i still dont think it will be op because damage probably will be too low. What you guys think? I mean in ascendancy 50k dps with caustic clouds that are pretty clunky isnt that good right?! I like the idea a lot but i feel at least in hc classic spectre/zombie summoner will be way stronger and safer?! I mean biggest problem here is that we cannot spec all we really need for this build to work perfectly (mistress, beacon and soul weaver are actually too many points). |

Bas news for you guys, no support gems other than minion life increase the cloud damage. Tested extensively in pvp. Its very disappointing.
