How will Beacon of Corruption scale?
Aside from increasing Minion Life, what support gems will increase Beacon of Corruption damage? (e.g. will Rapid Decay/VM linked to the minion gem increase its damage?)

Should work like minion instability, you just have to change fire for chaos dmg, the only thing i'm a bit unsure about is rapid decay.

Rapid Decay only links to Skills with a Duration. Should work with Skeletons by default, and the rest if you link them to a Totem (which in turn reduces their damage notably).

" Not if the secondary cloud provided by this passive is tagged as duration though? I expect it functions then like fire pen on a MI minion, where it does nothing for the summon itself but does interact with the minion explosive since it's labeled as "fire/aoe"? If it's treated like MI, then there's way more ways to scale its damage than I thought!
Preliminary number-crunching show a possible ~1k base damage before any links or scaling from tree with only minion life nodes and minion life gem. It has potential. |

So, this is probably what i will roll in the new league. Doesn't cost anything at all to get going.
I'm gonna let you in on a bit of theorycrafting. "Detonating spectres" you get 110% minion life from the tree, 120% from ascendancy class, 20% from maligaro's lens (necromantic aegis), 15% from sidhebreath, 65% from minion life gem, and let's say 30% from jewels. Total: 360% inc minion life. We get 90% minion damage from the tree, 145% from ascendancy class, 15% from sidhebreath, 15% from quality minion damage, and let's say 30% from jewels. Total: 295% Now, when raising spectres, it's like detonate dead, where it will scale with the zone level, so the dps will not be a set value. We can calculate based on mobs health is 1 (100%) to keep it simple. Beacons of corruptions says 10% of minion health as chaos damage over time. 1 * 0.1 * 4.6 (minion life) * 3.95 (minion damage) = 1.8 or 180% of the mobs original life as a dot. This is without gem multipliers (except minion life) That's like Detonate Dead with 3000% increased damage (if you would only cast 1 DD per second) Anyway, i hypothethise you can scale this caustic cloud the same way you can scale minion instability. So we link our raise spectre with minion damage, void manipulation, minion life, rapid decay, conc effect/inc aoe. For the sake of being tooltip warrior, let's say you do a lvl 80 zone, and the mob you raise as a spectre has 10k life originaly. ( i have no idea of actual values, but a 10k life mob in a lvl 80 zone seems a safe bet in my estimation.) That's 18k dps when linked with minion life. 18k * 1.49 (minion dmg) * 1.39 (void manipulation) * 1.39 (rapid decay) * 1.59 (concentrated effect) * 1.1 (raise spectre lvl 20 has a 10% more minion damage) = 90k chaos dot (take that caustic arrow!) Now you can use vulnerability with curse effectiveness if you want. 40% increased curse effectiveness to mitigate unique mobs 60% reduced curse effectiveness makes vulnerability a 1.26 multiplier. Then you have a wither totem for your uber atziri kills for an avg of what 10 (?) debuffs. That's a 1.7 multiplier. 90k * 1.26 * 1.7 = 192k chaos dps. Remember dots a normally more sustained dps, than when you need to run around between attacks. 192k is pretty good when the only item's i've taken into consideration are a 6L, maligaro's lens and sidhebreath :P btw these calculations are with a 200% life tree with 5,4% life regen and extra curse + effectiveness and some armour %. Oh, and with necromantic aegis and maligaro's lens, the aforementioned 10k life mob will give you 920 life each time you raise a spectre =/= each time you are using your main skill. Let me know if i screwed up somewhere. Wither and Vulnerability both grant Increased Damage Taken. Being an increased-type modifier, it's additive. :) Just a little sidenote.

So, there are many things up in the air atm. Clear speed might be shit because of minions AI. You can supplement spectres with other minions. A support animate guardian shouldn't die too easily with all the life scaling. Zombies might be better for clearing lower level maps with a montreguls. Does generic increased damage work with minions? Like doon or doedre's scorn? Anyway, this is a complete gamble, ill probably try and make some data about mobs life in maps. |

Leer Cast and Heartbound Loops would also help. Along with a few jewels. And you might just want to use Chober Chaber since you're not using Heartbound loops. Higher minion life %
