Pros & Cons

Pros

* Tons of 'free' damage (your non-unique gear will be all about getting tanky)
* Near invincible to physical damage (tons of armor, endurance charges, block, etc.)
* Very high life regen (unique weapon + belt + endurance charges from Ascendancy)
* Applying Elemental Equilibrium & Elemental Proliferation (-fire, -lightning resist; spreading chill/frozen)
* Cheap uniques, other than Doryani's Catalyst
* Room for flexibility on the skill tree - you will always be 1 point away from 30 dex, 30 int, many +all ele resist nodes, jewel slots, etc.

Cons

* Soul Mantle has no armor
* RF does not benefit from fire penetration or ignite
* Easiest way to die will definitely be cold or lightning damage (FUCK YOU SO MUCH STORM BEARERS)
* Leveling can be boring pre-40
* Can be difficult to spot deadly ground shit (righteous fire totems are visually distracting)



Gameplay

Gameplay would involve using 2 x RF Totem & 1 x Searing Totem to clear mobs - Frost Nova totem would spread chill/frozen in a large radius (see: Doryani's Catalyst) while also reducing the mobs' fire and lightning resists. Your character will be very tanky, your main enemy being delayed ground explosions.

Ya, I don't see any effective class for RF totems (as of yet).
Nevertheless RF totem builds could find a very defensive ascendancy class to specialize in, while optimizing the passive tree for damage?
If i understand the Tukohama, War's Herald talent correctly it says: Totems are Immune to Fire Damage which means 100% fire resistence for totems. Same wording as CI->Immune to chaos dmg->u have 100% chaos resist.


Therefore there is no reason to run any totem resistences, nor the gem or jewels, or passives.


Another thing rapid decay is far superior to inc burning damage (more vs inc).


Def would run searing bond insted of almost worthless decoy totem but that is just my opinion. SB doesnt count to max number of totem limit which means more covreage for RF totems.


Last thing, if u are going to run soul mantle which is even more then 50% more damage thx to the totem life i wouldnt go ancestral bond. Instead u can utilize elemental equlibrium for another -50% fire res and do it with comfortable spell like ball lightning/arc instead of traps.

Some thread say rf dont stacks in dmg . I think rf totem + flame totem can be a good choice .
U are scaling burning damage and dmg over time via passives so searing bond > flame totem in damage.
Agree about soul mantle and searing bond(actually there where some nice builds for previos versions. Use them for reference). Here's my tree for same build here (thought no blashemy and allres+armor auras, just don't want to facetank mobs and do some mf while at it). Hope it will help.

To me, the biggest decision I will have to make is whether or not to take Ancestral Bond
You added the idea to pick up a frostnova totem for applying EE stacks. What about adding http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Added_Lightning_Damage to those links to get another stack?

I suspect +flat lightning damage to spells from gear won't work for the totems?
