How does the Bomb Specialist bonus work?

"You gain 8% increased Damage for each Trap"

Is this a permanent bonus equal to the maximum number of traps a skill has? Say a skill has the default 3 plus 3 from Multitrap and 4 from elsewhere. Is that a permanent 80% increased damage with that skill?

Everyone I've seen write about it believes it's 8% increased damage for each trap currently out. It seems like it would be worded differently in that case, though, as "undetonated Trap" or something similar.

Has anyone from GGG clarified this yet? I couldn't find anything from them.

I'm sure they mean increased damage for every ACTIVE trap.
This way it will be consistent with other classes, e.g.:
- Necromancer: phys damage reduction for each zombie (active, not max)
- Hierophant: less damage for each totem (active, not max)

Bomb Specialist does not have any such wording.

Ok, then it looks like the wording hasn't been polished yet :)
Because otherwise it doesn't make much sense.
Otherwise it would mean that you'll recieve a global damage bonus even if you don't use traps at all. Hardly believable.

Seems to me it's "per placed trap". Cause you don't really have 6 traps when using multitrap, but rather you still have 3 (that's what the number on the icon is for), you just throw 2 additional with each use (and can place up to 6). So this node seems to provide a bit of a boost to your "alpha strike", when you throw twice and land six traps, first to explode will have 40 or 48% damage boost (depends if it itself counts), next one 8% lower and so on.

That's actually the interpretation that seems most believable and most useful to me.

Well, I have no more arguments left)
My only reasoning is consistency and sanity.
Let's see how will it turn out in 2 weeks.
But I'm sure they meant "for each active" :)
