The real outstanding stuff in this tree is probably Crave of Slaughter and maybe the Warcry enhancement if you ask me. 10% increased damage taken is a harsh debuff and probably nothing you wanna take in HC for example, maybe i am wrong here but we will see.




New Templar class seems interesting but don't seem that OP at all (maybe 2 totems + your character dealing damage at the same time could be OP - it has been the reason in the past why they nerfed ancestral bond). Conviction of Power seems really good with a PCoc setup and illuminated Devotion could lead to some interesting gem setups which i really like.

Divine guidence seems that GGG really wants to push MoM builds - the notable is good, don't get me wrong here, but it does nothing what isn't already possible - it makes it only more accessable. MoM, if used properly, is really strong since Sacrifice of the Vaal expansion - maybe more people will build around it with this class. Sanctuary of Thought is really strong for CI builds - especially with Pledge of Hands - this node gives you basicaly a free 300ES shield while using that staff - really strong imho.


The ranger Pathfinder class compared with most flask nodes on the tree + a good belt with flask affixes compared with a fast hitting crit build seems so broken and OP - i can't even imagine.

Any build that could make use of crit Cyclone or a 40-50 stack Blade Vortex or even a heavily attack speed focused Reaver, Doublestriker, Moltenstriker, Split Arrow with chain or simply any CoC character will have infinite flasks - and infinite unique flask uptime!

Permanent Taste of Hate with permanent Rumi's Concauction with permanent Vinktars is so stupidly broken it isn't even funny.


They literaly have to remove/nerf the increased flask charges gained modifiers in ranger to counteract this class alone a little bit :-/


+1 this! That guy knew what he is talking, marauder got worst class and melee got another nerf by making super broken class but not melee.

Berserker was the lame one and the other two were pretty powerful. Every flask including unique ones can gain flask charges over time or get the added "surgeon's flask of staunching" mod. That's pretty kickass. And 12% of your max mana added as ES. Getting 2000 mana with some investment will give 240 ES, which is not insignificant. Not to mention the extra mana would give regen and let you run Clarity without much pain. And the 2 extra totems...even with the damage penalty having 2, 3, 4, or 5 totems out at once is quite a lot of coverage and damage. And 25% chance to gain an endurance charge when you gain a power charge....pretty much guaranteed to always have max endurance charges for crit builds.

Berserker is the one of the worst class compared to other 2 new class.

The Hierophant class means I can throw my Totem-Marauder into the trash now.

PoE always felt like i could play anything, there are so many crazy combinations around its simply awesome. But with the Ascendancy classes it feels like you have to play one specific class for a build. Want to use a bow? Better play Ranger! Summon stuff? Need a witch! Otherwise you'll miss the imba skills that the game will be balanced around. Thats somehow disappointing, especially for people who do not have 20 characters at lvl 90.

The moment i saw the new Templar class i instantly lost interest in playing my marauder (and even the game a bit).

dont be so pessimistic, starting as a templar or marauder hardly makes any diference. olos note that last marauder subclass was some sort of shaman so you still have some hope.


as for the new sublcasses

berserker looks quite bad compare to the rest, warbringer would have been awesome back in the days where cwdt worked with warcrys but wasting a lot of time manualy casting warcrys for 5% healing dosent look good.

cloaked savagery and rite of ruin are decent but nothing spectacular

aspect of carnage looks like a bad trade. melee is already very risky, 100% increased damage is not good enought to compensate that 10% increased damage taken.

to be honest i was expecting a low life related subclass, stuff like:

add "x" increased damage based on missing life
"x" effect when on low life
when you get hit, spill blood over the floor and give "x" effect to enemys on it


hierofant looks quite good, on top of totems it has a huge potential for ES builds and for once it makes you want to stack flat mana.
i should start theoricrafting with whispering ice + divine guidance + sanctuary of thought.

The 3rd Mara class hasn't been revealed yet. If it's one that focuses on spells and Iron will and the like, you may not be so disappointed.

I would even argue that if the 3rd marauder ascendany class isn't something really special very few people would even consider picking marauder when the new leagues start in march. Maybe if they buff and ajust juggernaut a little i can see it have some use in HC - juggernaut has really good keystones already but with just a little more it would be able to compete with Templar for example.
