Is Immortal Flesh underrated?

I think so been using this in THC and phys is no problem. Takes a certain ammount off the top and increases armor rating by like 4-5 nodes, 40%. Has GG life and elemental don't hit like it used to so -5 max no biggie. add to all this mana and life regen. Best 1 chaos I ever spent.

" When it was first released I had expressed my thoughts about how underpowered it was and I recieved a lot of backlash for my comments including, "not every unique has to be bis", "you can build around it", "elitist snob" etc. Sometime later it was "buffed" to the state it's in ow, which imo is still unplayable. In a game where elemental damage kills you even at 75, there is no reason to willingly use an item with marginal benefits and reduce your resists to 70. IGN: Arlianth

Right, it has some good stats but max res penalty is a pretty serious affair. I suppose it depends on the build, some can handle it and some can't but its bonuses kinda lack the oomph that would encourage you to think too much about it.
It needs a little better bait, let's say 150 life and 100 regen. Or maybe something like 10% phys mitigation, that would be a tempting tradeoff, elemental for physical. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs. ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► Last edited by raics#7540 on Jan 21, 2016, 6:38:11 PM

" % based life regen would make a lot more sense, some ridiculously high value coupled with the - fire resist so RF does not become trivially easy to sustain. IGN: Arlianth

I like it a lot. Killed Mageara with it on, felt pretty good about myself. Sure, I exploded once, but a single death is fine in my books. Made it just a tad more convenient to run Cyclone on Mana, too.
That said, I never brought my Cycloner to high maps because lol screw that - and higher tier maps is precisely where the Resistance penalty starts to matter. Tbh, I often run the first tiers of maps without maxed Resistances (60+ is fine), unless there's a boss with a specific elemental preference. Whenever I died, it's either physical damage or I just didn't try staying alive (happens a lot, I'm careless). The bucket of Regen and surprisingly notable Physical Damage Reduction is *great* at its level, and for a good while beyond that. oh no it's not good at the part of the game I don't enjoy that much :P |

" Go home, you are drunk. But seriously, no, the item is not underrated. You know where it works? With CI Incandescent Heart and Zealot's Oath, and it sorta of defeats the purpose of going CI IH, so... -X% to all max resists is just terribad. The item *might* be worth using if GGG had it lower the max resist of a single element instead. Dreamfeather Elemental Cleave Ranger: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1087616

I like math.
Mathematically speaking, going from 75% to 70% resistance means you take 20% more damage than before. Going from 80 to 75% resistance means you take 25% more damage than before. Going from 85% to 80% resistance (flasking now?) means you take 33.3% more damage than before. For fun: Going from 93% to 88% resistance (RoP + flask, or Saffell's/Kalten/Aegis + flask + standard purity) means you take 71.43% more damage than before. I don't know if IF is underrated or truly bad, but I do know that wearing it can definitely heat up builds that are usually cool against elemental damage. You might be shocked when you take 3600 elemental DPS when you usually take 3000, or at the very lest 2400 elemental DPS when you usually take 2000. Need game info? "Literally. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

If you are in Dry Lake, it's not too bad, because there is very little elemental damage in that area, but a lot of physical hits. Maybe the same in other Act 1-4 areas where you can expect not much elemental damage.
In maps, pretty much no way, as you can't predict what mobs will be there, whatever the map mods say. And if the map mods have any kind of added elemental damage or decreased resistance, don't go near it! Even if the belt had (say) -20% to all elemental resistances instead of -5 max resistance, it would be of limited use. Nice life boots, but nothing you can't get on a rare. -50 from physical attacks good against lots of small hits, not so much against big hits, and 40% increased armour isn't great as armour is currently not scaling that well. An armour based character won't see a huge benefit because they will already have a high increased %. |
