Do you orb ur maps?
Hi guys,
maps tier 9 and above. Do you use orbs on them? Chance, Alchemy, Alteration? Or just run white maps or whatever drops? |

White maps are mostly pointless. I Transmute (+ Augment) maps up to tier 6, from there on I Alch them. Some players use Alterations and Chaos to get high packsize/quantity on the map, but I just Alch/Transmute + go (unless the map would kill me, like elemental reflect).
From tier 11 onwards it might pay to put on one of the Zana mods, maybe Domination if you want experience or Beyond if you have good packsize and your build can handle those bosses. Personally I put Ambush (4 additional strongboxes) on tier 12 maps in hopes of a Cartographers or a box with +chest level for ilvl 83 or 84 items. I don't buy Chisels anymore but if I have some lying around I will use them on maps tier 11+ (BEFORE Alching/Transmuting). scroogetemplar / scroogewitch / scroogemarauder

" You need to be alching maps way before tier 9, and depending on your existing pool you should be chiseling as well. Keep PoE2 Difficult. Last edited by Fluffy_Puppies#3904 on Jan 15, 2016, 5:11:18 AM

I used to Chance/Alch maps from Tier 1.
Now I am at stage 7-12 where 7 is ez and Tier 12 is good flow as long as there is no bad ass boss at the end. Sometimes I struggle with them or just leave them. So All my tier 7 upwards should be used with an alchemy orb. Where Tier 11 upwards with Zana mods? Thank you |

I vendor T1-4, alch+go on T5-8, chisel alch T9-10, chisel alch and a chaos or two on T11-12.
Might run Zana mods if I can ever get 12s reliably. Last edited by pneuma#0134 on Jan 15, 2016, 5:16:02 AM

Good to know all these things. Really appreciated for it.
I will test it out next time when I am off. Please tell me what is the difference in Zana mods? What is the difference from your experience. What is crap what is not. Thanks! |

" T1-T4 -> Hammering maps (Chisel recipe) T5-T8 -> 3 to 1 (Except Strand Map, i sell these for 1-2c each) T9 -> Alch 'n go T10 -> 2x Chisel Alch 'n go T11 -> 4x Chisel Alch, roll till packsize*iiq > 2.3 (i.e 80% and 30%pack -> 1.8*1.3=2.34) T12 -> 4x Chisel Alch, roll till packsize*iiq > 2.3, Zanamod if i have enough currency T13-T15 -> 4xChisel, Alt+Regal (no point to roll here.) Welcome to the greatest of arenas, Duelist. God is watching you. Last edited by Astarte911#6271 on Jan 15, 2016, 9:29:05 AM

" Pretty much never: Rampage, Anarchy, Invasion, Tempest, Nemesis, Warbands, Bloodlines. Onslaught could be ok if you have gear with increased rarity but little quantity, 30% increased quantity for 8 Chaos would be fine then. Outside of that I think not. Torment looks good on paper but I never get the spirits to possess any rares, if you are able to do it and your build can handle even possessed bosses then it's worth it. Beyond is definitely worth it if a) your build can defeat the Beyond bosses within decent time b) you have high packsize on the map or a mod like Sea Witches or just a map tileset with lots of tight packs (Wasteland etc). Ambush is a favorite of mine for higher-level maps. More mobs are good. If you get a Cartographer's you're set (note you can't get them on tier 13+), there are some other good strongboxes like Jeweller's, +chest level can get you ilvl83 etc. Domination is pretty much the best option in terms of experience gained as they give you the most mobs per map. If you have something like Bloodlines mod on your map enhancing the quality of the mobs even better. scroogetemplar / scroogewitch / scroogemarauder

ALC every map you run. I mean it, every single map, including T1 maps. The amount of low currency you find, chromes, jewelers, and ALTS from selling rares that drop more than pay for every single map you will ever run.
I've honestly never run a map in my life that didn't earn more than an ALC. It's completely insane when people tell you not to ALC everything. These are the same fools who have trouble keeping up their map pool. The only thing you need to avoid is using Chaos. That will eat away your currency. Make a character that can run most map mods, and ALC everything and run em. ALC and go. Chisel around T10 and above. Honestly though, you can chisel at will as well, it will always pay for itself in the long run to have that extra 20%. They are dirt cheap, so worth it.
