Elemental Penetration Support Gem?
The point is that your using an item that grants an advantage, you can now both shock and freeze enemy's.
And with that bonus comes a downside, the loss of effective penetration. Basically you want the cake and the cherry, while in reality, you have to choose. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" No. You have to do a certain percentage of HP to get these effects and since damage is split you don't really get either that often on anything but trash mobs because non-crit builds are crippled by not having penetration. trash mobs are w/e with basically any build. but... when you get a champion mod with increased health. when you get a map mod with ele equilibrium. when you get a map mod with res. when you get a pack with ele res. when you get a pack with curse immune. holy hell when you get curse immune + ele res. or a rare with ele res aura. or any combination of that which happens a lot. The problem is not using 2 elements in one skill but you not wanting to use another skill.
Why does most people focus on having one spamming-attack? Here are your solutions: 1. Take another spell you can stupidly spam in such situations. 2. Take another spell which does have fire and maybe chaos or physical damage, but not lightning or ice. Congratulation you now can switch back and forward and use elemental equilibrium which is stronger than elemental weakness and can't be ignored with curse immunity or weakened with curse-resistance (bosses have implicit curse resistance). 3. Hope for your suggestion to become a reality in the future (probably not going to happen). So again the solution lies in flexibility to have more than one attack you spam. Sadly people don't want such things. |

" Have you played a dual ele build? None of these are solutions in the least. 1. A spell i would have to take would be either fire chaos or phys. But your not specked into any of those damage types, so you'd be better off just casting 100 times on a pack with the damage you are specked in. 2. Same as above. Also I can't use EE bc my damage is split. example. Ok my damage is split, and now I get EE. That would only make the problem worse. You run up to a pack and cast. Now the mob is +25%resistant to my elements and -50 to the other 1. But im not specked into that element. I might as well just not get EE. Also you'd have to switch every spell cast on a mob or orb of regret every pack you run into, then respeck. Then regret then respeck. That's just ridiculous. I hope they add a gem too, because again singular element and crit builds don't have this issue. Last edited by maLcious#5631 on Jan 15, 2016, 12:31:26 PM

" 1. If you completly focus on one or two elements but don't support the 3rd one than... there must be something really bad with your gear and passives. Spell Damage work on all spells no matter the element. Elemental Damage works on all elements no matter the element. 2. You seem to not understand how EE works. Yes you have to alter the spell for EE, that's why I said to use another spell. I meant to alternate it with your already existing spell. Not spamming one spell. You have to use / spam both spells by alternating them. So you use your dual-lightning-cold-spell, the enemy gets +25 resistance for lightning and cold and -50 for fire. Now you use fire which means the enemy gets +25 resistance for fire and -50 for lightning and cold. -> both spells deal a lot more damage. This even benefits you when the enemy doesn't have curse immunity or high resistances. It always strengthens your attacks. Additional: with the right element your minions and party uses they benefit from the EE effects too. For the lazy spammers that wants to one-button-mash everything: 1st I hate you. 2nd Use Incinerate / Flame Totem, it applies the EE-effect you want probably faster than you can spam your lightning-cold-spell with echo. If you don't want to do either of them then that's your problem. (I also had to take more time to kill fire resistant curse immune enemies, even with a penetration gem. At least you can shock and freeze.) Last edited by SuperMotte#2631 on Jan 15, 2016, 12:59:16 PM

Every thing you said is extremely tedious. Also cripples damage output by taking more time for an already decreased damage build by not being crit. This is a glaring weakness in the meta that could all be fixed by just adding an elemental penetration gem.
I love you. Last edited by maLcious#5631 on Jan 15, 2016, 1:16:30 PM

" Are you kidding me? Which PvE-Monster is overcapped? Probably none... okay maybe 2 or 3... or are there? So x% penetration = x% reduced resistance. => 50% reduced resistance > 30% penetration. => EE > penetration (+EE doesn't even need a socket) And with a Flame Totem it only costs one slot, it doesn't even have to be linked with anything. How does that "cripple" your damage output? ZOMFG 0,3 seconds I used to cast a Totem!!! NO WAY!!! THAT WILL NEVER BE WORTH IT!!! This probably even enhances your damage far more than a penetration gem would in most situations. So why not add a general-elemental-penetration gem you ask? I never said they shouldn't, I justed list your current options. But others did. PS Love you too, you one-spell-spammer you. *Kisses* ;) PPS I also don't use crit. can't use EE.
Then you'd have to remove wrath which is massive dps reduction. Problem still unsolved. Again there is NO WAY to reliably handle these mob/map mods which are some of the most common in the game. Well other than taking 5 minutes to kill them. Last edited by maLcious#5631 on Jan 15, 2016, 2:58:39 PM
