Life Gain on Hit vs. Life Leech
" Thats it. Imagine if you can deal 10k damage with 1 projectile (molten gmp dream) you would like to go with leech instead of LGOH. The reason you cant see any build with leech in late game is single target DPS. Otherwise all endgame bosses can be a huge problem. You can see professional/rich players take care about accuracy but others not. (we can go with -hits can be dodged- daggers nowadays but still a huge problem for other weapons) So, numbers are reasons. If u can get +xy lgoh for each item on your char with claws, you can be the leechmaster. But still not enough for survive. For a long while, best way for gaining best numbers is dodge+crit+vaal+nukeoffense combo. Because leech is never enough alone without massive amount damage+armour+res. Neden yaşıyorsun? I use LGoH as my primary healing source (Life regen as secondary, Warlord's Mark as third) on my Static Strike Blocker. With a really high block chance and fairly decent armor, I'm able to mitigate a lot of incoming damage, and with Static Strike plus Multistrike, my LGoH gem procs six times on a single target, and many more in groups. The instant healing is quite nice, and frees up nodes that would otherwise be spent on Life Leech and damage to be used on more blocking.

" You'll want to work your way up to the Shadow area, but starting at the Duelist and working up is better than starting at the Shadow and working down. In general, you want your defenses in place before you work on offense. That might just be the HC playstyle though. Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Jan 14, 2016, 4:05:59 PM

" I play strictly soft core, so while defense is still a critical part of any build, I have the leeway to take more risks with offense. Truth be told, I just leveled my first Ranger to 84, which is based on NeverSink's Tornado Shot guide in the Ranger forums. That build is probably my most successful yet. It's extremely flexible in terms of skills you can use, it moves very fast, and has the benefit of being ranged. Now I'm looking to make something that has equal or better clear speed, but is melee with tons of LGoH (or leech if the former isn't viable). Gear I currently have to choose from: 6L astral plate, Daresso's Defiance (will be 5L soon), Maligaro's virtuosity, and about 2 ex of currency I can invest. I could easily be mistaken but I don't see LGOH carrying you very far once you start hitting map bosses. May as well just stack lots of life regen.

It can be used well as a hybrid char, with 2-3k life and 3-4k es. using LGoH for your life pool and ghost reaver + vaal pact for your es pool
possibly even low life 75% chaos resist, can still have 1.5k hp and a decent es pool |

One thing people tend to forget is that you don't have to choose between them. You can use both LGoH and leech, and if you're interested in recovering rapidly without vaal pact, it could be in your best interest to do so.
What i mean is... if you're only using life leech, without vaal pact, your recovery rate from leech is capped. Doesn't matter if you've got 1% leech or 10%, you're still only gonna recover at your max rate (even if the 10% would cause you to be leeching for longer). However, if you toss in LGoH as a gem (or on claws) in addition to getting life leech from other sources, you still get to recover at the max leech rate PLUS whatever recovery rate you get from your LGoH hitrate. Again, it's a moot point with vaal pact, there's no max leech rate there, but if you're not taking vaal pact (cuz it's too far away, cuz you don't wanna lose regen, cuz you don't wanna lose 'leeched per second' bonuses), mixing the two, as opposed to just stacking pure leech, is a good way to recover faster. Huh, I have the opposite opinion, that LGoH > LL, and that LL is useless since it isn't instant like LGoH.. :S

Life leech without Vaal Pact takes a lot more investment to get good, but the flip side is that LGoH requires a link to work, whereas leech, when specced into it, can get really strong without using up a curse slot OR an attack link, meaning more space for damage or other defensive things.

I've made a Double Strike build heavily based on LGoH and also MGoH (mana gain). Take a look if you're interested:
