What can Scion do that stands out from the other classes?

I'm kinda hoping its more or less jewel related as it means you can make her into any build usually. Certain ascendant paths already limit the builds for classes. (Duelist are limited to melee builds)

The Scion life notes are also still super strong. Guaranteed easy access to life notes.

That is not true, and shows a problem with the people criticizing Ascendancy.

Why is the Duelist melee only?
Slayer is 2h weapon related. The damage increases are not even attack damage only. 2h means bows as well.
Gladiator is Wand viable.
Champion is very general except for a few little damage increases for anything attack related. Which again includes Wands.

Bows aren't considered 2H weapons but your point is good, a Necromancer has great potential for a melee witch and a Deadeye could be a projectile caster.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I'm suspicious about it because I don't think there's a single instance in the game where bows are called 'two handed ranged weapons'.

On reddit (and possibly somewhere on here too) they confirmed that Slayer works with bows.

Hmm, right, seems they were always 2H weapons in the internal workings of the game but there was no need to make that distinction until now. Well, that's interesting, I suppose we may expect some juicing up of duelist starting area at some time with that in mind.

I suppose we can't get a manica for 2H melees then because it would be a pain to adjust the clipping with gauntlets and armor, not because a 2H weapon is absolutely required to occupy both hand slots.

If it works for Bows as well then that's good news then.

Simple answer: If it weren't, there wouldn't be nodes like "% increased Physical Damage with Two Handed Melee Weapons".

We had some without the 'melee' tag at some point and they didn't work with bows, they snuck by probably because devs though it was obvious enough that they formed a melee cluster but 'melee' was added later to clarify.

I suppose it's one of those preemptive description things. Similar situation with 'melee attack damage' where 'attack' is redundant because in the current state of the game 'melee damage' implies 'attack' as melee damage currently can't be anything else. However, using just 'melee damage' wouldn't be entirely correct as a player could assume a DoT effect resulting from a melee attack could benefit from such bonuses, which doesn't happen but it would be logical to assume so if you compare it to 'projectile damage' interactions.

It's probably also a result of having only two ranged weapons in the game so it was more elegant to just use 'bow' instead of 'two handed ranged weapon', which ended up as 1h/2h ranged weapon description not getting used at all as there is no real reason to do so.
