Nah, they already gave up. If anything, they're making it worse with every single patch.

Think about it. They made counter-attack gems only for melee. It changed nothing. Then they made Fortify. Changed nothing, every caster uses a dagger and has Whirl+Fortify+FasterAttacks linked. And Fortify will be available to ranged builds permanantly in Ascendancy. They haven't announced anything since then, they gave up trying to fix melee.

I love melee, man. I'm a melee guy. In every ARPG I played (and I'm playing them since Diablo 1 came out) I play melee only, but in PoE 9 out of 10 builds I play are ranged. I played Cyclone and I'm DONE, even before the nerf it was so bad compared to ranged builds. It's a fun skill, for sure, but for the same investment ranged is just better. Don't fight it, embrace the ranged meta.

Yeah cyclone pernerf wasn't bad idk what you are\were smoking. Do you have to build tankier, yes are you less likely to die because of "free unwavering stace" constant re-positioning, ect.


Ranged builds that START as duelist, its important to note that does come at a cost depending on what skill\tree you plan on using.

Lets not forget the duelist has other sick ascendancy classes, like free melee splash and free unwavering stance while leeching. Theres another with 100% block chance applied to spells.

We haven't seen but 1 of the marauders classes and 1 of the templars.


But yep lets continue this thread that melee has gotten worst over time, when they have done nothing but try to make it better.

With mid players you mean lvl 50 --> 75? because any player with a little skill, knowledge and good tree can level as melee with self found gear without dieing easily.

Not really, no. If you don't find a decent weapon for your build in late cruel/early merc, you're fucked, at least in selffound HC.

I think he pointed out and wanted to change that.
GGG will START think to change it ONLY if full reddit start to think that way (as we all knew GGG reading and sit on reddit only) or if everyone on forum start to ask for it HEAVILY, otherwise we will never seen even tries from GGG to change anything at all, besides buffing already broken builds (CoC, Mjolner, TS, CA, etc).

It is way, WAY too late for GGG to fix the issue now. If by raising awareness you mean get them to start with on a sequel, then maybe.

I've thought this for awhile and I can't be the first to think of it, I never posted it as I don't play a Marauder or Duelist: Maraders and Duelists (well anybody, but they'd be the most likely to meet the requirements)should have the option to duel wield 2h weapons, one in each hand, if they meet a high strength requirement (which would need to be ludicrously high). They'd get the dual wield bonus, DPS bonus, and another 6l. This would really take non-crit, non-dagger melee out of the basement.
