Rings and amulets relative drop rate
It's the opposite for me too: I've lots of amulets and even more belts just waiting for rings to drop so I can turn them in. Been like this the whole league, got one guy at lev 78 and the other at 90.

Well, anybody's more than welcome to come get some of my rings for some of their amulets :D My IGN is TheBunnyShredder.

I never have a problem with ammy rings or belts because i alc every diamond ring, leather belt, and (agate, turquoise, citrine) i find or can afford to do in case of new leagues.
Basically just do what I'm short on mostly. Always come out ahead. I've sold one ring for 25 ex once that buys a lot of alcs. Even if you dont craft a sellable product you break even on the chaos/regal. Win win. If youre doing UNID this wont help and you're at mercy of RNG. Git R Dun! So once upon a time,... I decided to make my item loot filter be friendly toward farming gem exp, while still getting max amount of loot.
I did this, because I wanted to farm gem exp. I took 15 shockwave gems, got them to 20, made them 20% and repeated, they are now all level 18/20 gems. I did this all mostly in dried lake. I only pick up maps, gavels, tricolor, currency minus portal and wisdom, and rare jewelry. I did this so I can farm dried lake about 3 times before i have to go to the stash, yet still obtain currrency. While I was doing this, I thought to myself, if i get about 200 iir, i would collect more jewelry,... so i boosted my iir from about 20 to 220. I have all the other armours filtered out. After about 30 runs, i had 14 rare rings, 27 rare belts and ONE ammy. just one. its like the iir boosted the other jewelries but not rare amulets. I found this thread because googled this problem specifically. Now, i know the RNG is a funny thing, but its kind of approaching fact, at least in Dried Lake, that rare ammies are way more rare compared to other jewelry, with iir boosted. I plan to spend quite a bit more time in dried lake so, now that im paying attention, I may actually have stats later. |

Stats would be nice. For now... 15 is not a good sample size.
But to be sure, there have been people in this thread saying they have significantly more amulets than rings. Also, don't forget that a very large number of people are playing the game. Out of that very large number, it is extremely likely that a moderately large number of people see very few amulets or rings. Out of that moderately large number, there's bound to be one or two active enough on the forum to want to post here. That's the beauty of statistics. Unlikely things happen all the time. To put it in the words of a high authority on the subject: "A woman had given birth to naturally conceived identical quadruplet girls, which is very rare. And she said, "The doctors told me there was a one in 64 million chance that this could happen. It's A MIRACLE!" But, of course, we know it's not, because things that have a one in 64 million chance happen ... ALL the TIME! To presume that your one in 64 million chance thing is a miracle, is to significantly underestimate the total number of things that THERE ARE." - Tim Minchin Save a Carrot, Eat a Rabbit!

Well, for me its a reality. Perception is reality yes? 39 voll runs, and clearing about 80 percent of dried lake as well each time, and 7 dom runs with 228 rarity.
1 rare ammy. I told a guy I was talking to, that if another dropped, i would almost be upset, because it sounds so much better to say only 1 when complaining lol. |

Of course it's reality. But it's the past. It can be significant only in how much you can use it to predict the future.
And if RNG is indeed RNG, the fact that you saw so few amulets does not mean that the next drop is less probable for you than for anybody else. The law of series is wrong. It's only your perception of it which confirms it, erroneously. Save a Carrot, Eat a Rabbit!

But another possibility is that there are hidden variables (time of the day, name of your character, or absolutely anything) which influence the RNG of PoE in order to increase correlations without changing the overall average. This would not be inconsistent with GGG's strong desire to force players to trade and interact.
But proving something like that, and even just convincing oneself of it beyond reasonable doubt, would require an insane amount of data. Save a Carrot, Eat a Rabbit! Last edited by LazarusQ#0185 on Jan 27, 2016, 12:23:50 PM
