Evasion and Acrobatics

So my current character in Talisman is a shadow, and naturally, evasion nodes are the most plentiful and easy to come by. There's also Acrobatics and Phase acrobatics (for spells)...

My question is, how useful is Acrobatics? Should i take it if i'm using evasion? Do those stack or is Acrobatics a separate thing?

If it's separate, is it good, or should i just stack as much evasion as possible for defence?

I plan on using Evasion only gear, but will use Evasion/ES gear if it's better in some cases, depends on the mods. But since i'm doing a chaos build, the only defensive options are ES and evasion (and the combo in some node cases), so should i augment that with Acrobatics or just stick with evasion and get more HP or more evasion instead of Acrobatics?

Thanks for taking your time to read this!
Your character needs Acrobatics to even be viable. Evasion on its own is hands-down the worst defense "system" in this game.

I hope you're not melee.

No, i'm not melee, i'm doing a Contagion/Essence Drain build, with lots of extra defense when someone gets close like Tempral chains and Enfeeble aura via Blasphemy.

I've heard evasion "sucks", but i can't get much Energy shield nodes for them to matter much, and ES gear is expensive, and i can't get any armor nodes, that would be too much skill points wasted just to get to that part of the tree...

So since i'm going for evasion, Acrobatics is necessary then? It helps a lot?
It makes Evasion close to viable.

It's amazing by itself.

One thing to note is that if you go Acrobatics you're basically going for Evasion and Life. You'll need around 5k life total if you want to do high tier maps.

On a related note, the painful lack of life and defense is why most players don't go Shadow.

EDIT: You actually have another option: Go hybrid ES/Life with a little bit of armour and evasion, no Acrobatics.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to see how much certain gear costs so i can decide what to go for... I'm not exactly rich so i can't afford ultra expensive builds.

I'm still in Cruel though so it doesn't matter much yet, but i have to start planning now which direction to take.

Thank you for your answers! :)
Simple answer:

Dodge is rolled separately from evasion so it gives an additional chance to avoid damage.

Yes, it is worth it.

I have similar concerns, as I have never tried building melee around evasion (planning to do so, with a shadow..). The problem is that evasion builds could work if you have a large life buffer. Because otherwise you are still in danger of being one-shot. Like elitedesolator said, its location makes acquiring enough of the much needed life difficult, as the shadow area is build around hybrid life/ES, but acrobatics destroys the ES part, leaving you with gimped EHP.
The only way I can imagine to handle this is going Fortify + Lightning Coil + high evasion shield; Fortify + Coil for the needed damage reduction and an high evasion shield to compensate for the lacking evasion on Lightning Coil. All in all its just mediocrely efficient.
well, coil phaseacro evasion is literally one of the strongest melee setups in the game. What you get for the points spent in defense is absurd, so far beyond any other setup I am aware of for the same defensive point spend.

Take away the coil and its pretty garbage, but with coil it elevates the setup from shit tier to god tier because its plugging the only weak gap in your defense. Its only shit tier because you have that physical mitigation hole, evasion and acrobatics are absolutely amazing for melee, just not enough to cover every base that needs covered.

You dont need a high ev shield with a coil if u run a grace + hatred setup, if u dont have grace u need the shield. I do both and net about 22k evasion on my main coil melee, about 14k on the ones that run all damage auras with no grace.

My concern with acro is that it costs you 5 points, destroys your ability to get the worth of a granite flask which will save your life if you dont have phys mitigation and basically gives you a chance to avoid damage in return. Well your evasion already gives you avoidance, and so does your shields block, what you need is a good way to reduce phys damage and by taking acrobatics you wipe out armour flasks which are your only means of getting that without using a coil and/or taste of hate.

If I didnt have a coil/toh Id be going part evasion part armour, I dont trust pure evasion without a coil.

I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Acro is excellent bang for the buck, in terms of defenses gained per skill point investment. But it's really just another evasion roll, with the same weakness as evasion: if you do get hit, then may god have mercy on your soul.

So definitely get Acro, but also look into non-armor ways of gaining physical resistance. Endurance charges, Fortify, Chaos Golem, etc.
they should add another keystone near shadow that says

50% increased maximum life
50% less Armour and Energy Shield
30% less Block chance

combine that with acro and you get 0 armour 0 ES and -60% block chance

xD
Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again expecting... shit to change... That. Is. Crazy. thinking: "This time is gonna be different. No, no, no please... This time is gonna be different."
