Evasion and Acrobatics
Thanks for the replies everyone!
For my build, it's ranged, and mostly based around avoiding enemies. Contagion/ED and move away. I have Wither totem, and temporal chains totem and aura. Eventually i'll try to sheak in another Enfeeble aura, depending on how much mana i'll have left due to mana reservation, without needing to take less mana reserved nodes. However if it proves really good, i might consider taking a few less mana reserved nodes, or maybe branch into curse nodes to maximise effectiveness, idk, i'll have to see about that when i get some linked gear. That should be ok for minimising threat from melee enemies. Temporal chains already slows them down to a crawl, Enfeeble would lower their thread even more, and with increased AOE (both nodes and gem), it should be ok. That still leaves ranged enemies a threat, unless i walk up to them. I ditched chaos golem because it was getting in the way. Broke a lot of Contagion chain reactions, but i might bring it back later. It's just that, the physical reduction buff seems miniature and not worth it. At least for now. That precentage will get better as mobs deal more damage. After all -5% reduction from 50 damage, and -5% for 500 damage is a big difference. As for the tree, Yeah, there aren't a lot of life nodes around. And those that are, also give energy shield (in the witch area), and there's also evasion/ES nodes, and the notable from that part gives resistances, but i'll have to take them with energy shield. Which will be gimped by Acrobatics. This is the build i'm working toward. Chaos and spell dmage nodes as necessary, and all the rest into defence: My chaos build. If i get those 2 unique knives, one adds poison to chaos, another one gives you buffs for poison, i might get the poison nodes too... So, since the ES and Armor would be limited by Acrobatics, I would plan on using Evasion only gear, which gives me a lot more evasion than combined evasion/ES gear would. Maybe then it'll work out. |

So i got Acrobatics (only Acrobatics for now, not the passives after that yet, need to level.
How exactly is this better than Evasion? o.O Not only do i still get hit just as much (if not more) than i did, but now when i do get hit, i get stunlocked because it reduced my armor to probably 0 (because i had no armor besides the default value), and gimped my Energy shield, what little i had... Is this some end game thing? Because i'm wearing evasion only gear, gloves have evasion/es combo, and for now, i have a shield with energy shield until i find an evasion one with the sockets i need (playing self found), or level to 65 so i can use Bino's kitchen knife in the other hand. Did i take it too early? Or should i just refund that point and go Evasion/ES gear, since those are the nodes Shadow has most access to... Because, this is kinda bad now. :/ I have a reasonable amount of HP at my level to survive hits, even the AK-47 bithes before Piety in Act 3 (which my Templar had troubles with at that level lol), but i'm not seeing the difference honestly, except the debuffs that it got me. :( EDIT: There needs to be a +20% evasion node or something after the Acrobatics passive. Just to buff your evasion a bit more since it seriously gimps you in all other aspects. Maybe in the next tree. Last edited by Veprovina#1686 on Jan 2, 2016, 9:10:52 PM

Evasion Acro is, on average, the best defense in the game.
The problem is that every once-and-a-while, you're going to take way too much physical damage. If you are playing in a Standard league and are content with just learning the game and not getting to particularly high maps or character levels, then this defense is perfectly adequate. If you want to avoid death as much as possible, this defense won't be enough on it's own. You're going to need a Lightning Coil and you're going to need jewelery suffixes, and these things are going to cost money. |

" I'm playing in Talisman. I asked in game, and one person explained in detail how evasion works and why i was getting hit too much. Apparently i have to constantly upgrade my gear as i level (lvl 60 now), and upgrade evasion nodes constantly to keep up with the mobs because the higher level they are, the less chance i have to evade. So basically i need new gear since mine is not enough anymore. I'll farm dried lake till i get something better, then continue. Basically, it was explained to me, if i'm not dying, then my setup is working OK, and that Acrobatics are very useful, especially when i also take the nodes after Acrobatics. That's basically rolling evasion twice, and that no matter what i'll get hit, and just have to tank it when i do, and have more mobility. Evasion is quite a different playstyle than i'm used to, so that's why i was a bit surprised that Acrobatics wasn't making a grand difference. It makes a difference though compared to evasion only, and especially on higher levels where mob density is higher (like maps), but getting hit is part of playing it. It was suggested to me to use Whirling blades for mobility to further avoid getting hit, and to kite a lot. So i did that, and now it's way better with mobility. :) I mean, i wasn't standing in front of mobs before, it's just that, walking doesn't cut it for evasion. Can't get away fast enough in some situations. So in conclusion, yes, Acrobatics is worth it, i just wasn't playing it right. Whirling blades are awesome! :D |
