Lagspikes in all aspects of play since patch
The Fn key combo would be the only thing to switch video cards, so external keyboard should be no problem.
How do you mean the graphics were messed up when you tried Fn+F5 before? You could not fix the resolution when it was really low? How about after a video driver update? |

" I honestly didn't try to change the resolution, I just redid the FN-F5 combo immediately. In terms of drivers, the dell ones available on their website are still the same ones I last updated to, and my understanding of drivers is that you don't want to get them from the device manufacturer directly when you have an assembled system from someone like Dell. I will go ahead and retry the FN-F5 combo and see if I can manually change the resolution. It just really freaked me out because the resolution was so different (so much so that it was literally grainy, some icons I have on my desktop that take up a small portion of the left side of the screen were literally taking up the entire screen, and they weren't even all shown). Dell's website just repackages the latest stable driver from the video card sites, but after a few years they stop supporting the older models. So for newer computers, it's fine to get drivers from either AMD/Nvidia/Intel's website or from the computer maker's site.

Definitely a non-go on the FN-F5 combo; whatever mode that enables doesn't appear to be useful for anything. Although I was able to fix the resolution, I couldn't do anything with the mode enabled--Path of Exile wouldn't even load, I couldn't actually get in game in league of legends, and I couldn't even watch local videos saved on my computer--I kept getting errors about an ATI device not being installed or something like that. I reverted the state by restarting with FN-F5 and am able to do everything normally again though.

You have this installed? http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=D24NC
This is an extremely old driver (15 May 2014). Maybe you should get the AMD site's driver and test that out. |

" I really do appreciate your time and effort so far, but before I start messing with drivers, is there any way to figure out if it is related to the current patch somehow? It wasn't an issue before it, and I am not lagging due to graphically intense scenarios (i.e., I just killed voll with only a couple short lag spikes, and had another couple lag spikes while vendoring the loot, which isn't a very graphically intense scenario). And again, I am not experiencing even the slightest forms of lag in any other games I am playing or when watching videos or anything. |

" i am having the same problem but alongside the spikes its freezing me where my toon can be killed, and most of the time kicking me out of the game..... |
