Lagspikes in all aspects of play since patch

I was responding in someone else's thread, but it looks like their issue was resolved, and upon further inspection, it looks like some details of my issue are different, so I thought I would make a new thread. Since I logged in to play today in the new Talisman league at 1 pm PST, I have had periodic, extreme lagspikes in all aspects of play. These happens as often as every few seconds, though sometimes I can go 30 seconds or so without getting one. When I say they occur in all aspects of play, I mean all--using skills, not using skills, in combat with monsters, not in combat with monsters, walking through zones, standing still, walking through town, interacting with my stache, and even when using character select. On top of this, this lag occurs not only in lockstep, which I normally use, but also in Predictive mode--in fact, it occurs in EXACTLY the same way in predictive as it does in lockstep. When these spikes occur, both Frame Time and Latency spike up a large amount, and FPS drops a large amount. In addition, this is an issue exclusively with path of exile--any other online game I play has zero lag issues, I can watch high quality game streams with zero issues, etc. In terms of troubleshooting attempts I have made: -I already use an ethernet connection, not wifi, so it is not a wifi issue. -I restarted Path of Exile (numerous times) -I restarted my computer (numerous times) -I reset my router -I ran a "pack check" as directed from the "Consolidated Technical Issues & Guides" sticky in this forum. No corruption was found. -I tried to just "wait it out" by both just continuing to play and also by taking breaks to do other things while path of exile was closed. -I attempted to play in predictive mode. -I switched gateways. None of these things have had any noticeable impact at all (except for switching to higher ping gateways, which predictably made my non-lagging ping worse), and there are no other troubleshooting ideas related to my issue I can find. I would really like some help troubleshooting this issue, as this is making a new league I was very hyped for a miserable play experience. |

The problem doesn't sound like a networking issue, since you get frame time and FPS drops, and it's the same kind of lag in both predictive and lockstep.
Would you please provide us with dxdiag info? Save all information, then put it in pastebin and link it here, or post what fits in Spoiler tags. Have you played PoE before without this video lag? What kind of changes have been made, besides the patch? I'm talking about video options/driver settings, program installations, new hardware, all the changes to the computer you can think of for when the problems started happening. |

" I have played PoE since open beta without these issues. I last played in the recent Darkshrine league without any issues. I have literally not installed anything or changed any computer settings, asides from automatic windows updates.

It appears to me you aren't detecting your video card.

However, when the computer restarted my graphics were all fucked up (extremely low resolution) so I immediately did the same step (fn+f5) and my graphics were back to normal after the next restart. The article you linked said the mode was enabled when started up from a battery, but I use my laptop exclusively corded usually (I last unplugged it like 6 months ago when I went on a trip) so I don't even see how that mode would be enabled. |

So you still have the lag? Does your PoE video options list nvidia/ati as your video adapter, or intel?

In terms of other games, I have been playing league of legends on high settings in between my PoE play sessions, and it has been running without even the slightest lag or slowdowns or delays of any kind. Edit: Also, for what its worth, I am pretty sure the Intel integrated graphics card has always been the one to show up in the PoE graphics settings. One thing that came to mind when thinking of your cat question--I have a seperate keyboard I use normally I have in front of my laptop at my desk. When I eat a meal while browsing the web, I often move this keyboard on top of the laptop default keyboard to make room, so it is possible that some obscure key sequence was pressed if that's what your line of questioning was going for.
