Donald Trump

Well, yeah. The motive to support Trump has always been less about specific policy points and more about raging against the machine. I sincerely doubt Trump has, or ever had, lots of supporters who believe their lives would be positively impacted by a massive, Mexico-paid border wall... but I'm equally sure that he gained lots of supporters simply by making prior think "hey, politicians don't say that kind of stuff; what's with this guy?"

Unorthodox for the sake of unorthodoxy. A different interpretation for each follower. The only constant is a "fuck you" to the status quo.

Trump's rise to power truly is a testament to the sheer volume of rage felt by Americans towards their government. However, as I'm fond of saying on these forums, popular feedback is reliable but popular suggestions emphatically are not. Trump is the Self Found League thread of presidential candidates.

I know my last post in this thread was a bit crazy, I myself am a bit crazy, but in all honestly I voted for Obama his first time, Gary Johnson in 2012 and I'm pretty certain I'm going to vote for Donald Trump this time around.

I can't stand political correctness so much to the point that I'd rather have someone like Trump than ever, in a million years, consider someone like Clinton. First I simply don't believe half the shit Trump says, he's merely pandering for votes, ok fair enough so do many politicians. Second, Trump obviously has leadership skills or we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place. The same could be said of Clinton I suppose but her long history of just flat out cuntiness just puts me off. Her cookie cutter political identity makes me vomit. And the fact that her campaign is being led by a self proclaimed incestious child molester (Lena Dunham, look it up if you dont know) really really puts me off.
R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

You won't get no glory on that side of the hole.

Which explains why his campaign to this point has the luminescence of a thousand tons of burning dogshit.

Seriously, what about this man screams leadership to you?

@ampdecay: So you're not voting for Trump so much as voting against Clinton.

I hope you realize how fucked up that is, and put your vote towards someone, anyone whom you feel legitimately deserves the office.

No policy specifics to be found, just "I will fix them". I loved, btw, that he will protect LG...........BTQ people from terrorists, like the GOP platform hasn't been their #1 problem for decades.

Thiel received a standing ovation for his speech. Try to keep up. This is no more the "old" GOP than Hillary's Democrats remotely resemble the party of JFK. =^[.]^=

Right, because Thiel represents the vast majority of LGBT people in the country. Because the Current official GOP platform isn't thoroughly repressive. Because most of the fucking convention wasn't just meaningless platitudes with absolutely no policy behind it.

Ray, what the fuck.

*Sigh.* You're right, Antnee. You've caught me out. The GOP really is the party of rich, old, white racist homophobes. Just as you started this thread to portray them as. I concede the point, and will no longer darken your thread with my political trolling. =-[.]-=

Dude, their official party platform- the new one- includes support for gay conversion """"therapy"""", and constitutional amendments against gay marriage.

How the hell am I supposed to see any platitudes as anything but a smokescreen? Seriously?

I honestly don't understand your viewpoint. Any thinking person should see this all as meaningless hucksterism, regardless of if you're left or right.

"Oh no, that stuff's in there just to appease conservatives. We won't really do that!"

Seriously? We are talking about the same GOP that's been beating social issues into a fine paste for the last 30 years, right? You mean to tell me that they've experienced some sort of sea change because they trotted out a rich gay Uncle Tom? Even though the same fucking language is in their platform?

If trump comes out and repudiates the anti LGBT language in the party platform, clearly and concisely, I will eat my hat. Until then, your motte needs some serious masonry work.

Edit:

To put this in some conservative perspective... a hypothetical universe:

Hillary unveils the new Democratic platform, which includes language pushing for the repeal of the 2nd amendment. Then trots out Ted Nugent to say some pretty words at the convention, and assures you that it's just in there to appease the hardcore left wing.

You really gonna believe that?
