Do you live in Europe? Just wondering because 16 is already pretty good for the US. I don't even know where you could get a 100MBit connection over here.

Yes, in Germany. Several cable providers offer connections with 100MBit or more, phoneline-bound providers are somewhere around 50MBit in populated areas. Of course, in the German countryside you have to be content with what you get.

As if they would raise the prices and decrease the normal speed so extremely. I mean they would lose so many customers if they did that. We just need to wait and see what is going to happen.
This is a buff.
the whole situation in germany about them killing net neutrality is extremely worrying. imaging ggg would ask their hoster (networklayer.com) to improve their data exchange with german drosselcom and networklayer would return a price tag. that's the end of innovation and internet as we know it in germany.

let's first wait how this one turns out shall we?

at least 1 thing is sure - it has absolutely nothing to do with "R.I.P. POE" - why do you guys need to integrate that in every post just to get attention? Unnötig

no need to wait, the consequences are clear: if companies offering a service have to pay providers to deliver packets in time to customers, startups with no financial backup are dead, deader deadest ... you name it.

One thing people are confusing here is bandwidth vs. ping. PoE uses very little bandwidth but benefits greatly from low ping. Throttling bandwidth isn't going to affect us much.

That's not the point. The point is that companies like Telekom can now just give their services more bandwidth or priority which means they don't need to invest more into better hardware. They can just throttle everyone who isn't paying.

I already have ping spikes and bandwidth issues in the afternoon, especially on weekends. As in I should have 16MBit and I can't watch 1080p Youtube videos without buffering sometimes. I am Telkom customer, I'm living in a 1 million+ citizen city and it's fucking ridiculous!

Now imagine what will happen if they just prioritize traffic that makes them more money. Ask GGG's support. German customers are already complaining about traffic issues regularly and it looks like the Telekom is at fault here. I have a feeling it's not going to get better after this EU law.
PoE needs better social features... and more cats!

they are trying to cut the internet up into tiny pices and sell them back to us bit by bit at a inflated cost. They are suceding at this to.

Hear in Canada the ISP providers use a old law about telecomunitcation infistructure to creat a "soft monopoly " then they exploit it on us the costomors. Total BS they don't even try to hide it from us cuz thares nothing we can do . If you don't live in a populated city in canada but rual area insted ( like most of the country ) then enjoy your $500 internet per bill mounth !!! o and massive bandwidth caps ( im forced to run 2 lines cuz of this ) but then you can also expect massive lag spikes ( enoughf to crash game clients ) and speeds so slow that a ping lower than 100 is just a dream you have late at night. Don't like that ? want to go to another company ? well you can't so go fuck yourself.

Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.

it doesn't matter as killing net neutrality will affect both. offering a real time or streaming service? providers will charge your company to reach their customers.
