"Darkshrine event"? More like "stash tab pay2win event" so you can hoard more rares! Seriously: For me it is too early to talk about darkshrines because we don't know enough. " THANK YOU. yeesh. i also think it's a less exciting event that way. i think an easy way to make it cooler would be to place shrines in any area, rather than randomly, in a spot that is equidistant from all exits. then make it so triggering the shrine (disturbing magical ley lines with its power, blah blah.) causes the wp to lock, and disallows teleports. forcing the server to remove you from the instance (alt f4) will make it so you cannot activate another shrine (in that area) until the instance with the activated shrine is gone. this way, its a real risk to use it, there might be a great reward, but you might have to fight your way through some horrible horde on your way to the exit instead. just my 2 cents |

When asking for stuff like that you first have to ask yourself 'has this game ever provided a way for somebody that plays two hours a day to compete in any way with somebody that plays ten'? If the answer is no, that means it either isn't possible or isn't intended. Because that would mean going from 20 hours total playtime to 100 hours would need to yield zero progress for you, roughly speaking. To make you and me compete with them, devs would have to devalue time investment, as simple as that, and chances for that happening in an online game are exactly zero. this is thread reminds me of fox news for some reason.
the devs have already stated that this has the potential to get farmed in an unbalanced way once people figure the shrines out. who cares in a 1 month league though!? precisely why they used this mechanic which had obviously been scrapped for a longer league for that reason. just enjoy it and have some fun with it :p |

" ok, forget EVERYTHING i said about farming full stop. i think this event can potentially be very very boring and stupid without the mechanic i suggested, or something else (im not claiming im so great) that the devs think of. because the whole point is, will you take a risk and pop the shrine? now, rares? who cares? (rhymes cuz true) rares are maybe exciting for the first ten hours you play poe. this game rains down yellow. its so easy to fill your whole stash with yellow junk in just one playthrough to merc! so whats the risk? make a portal next to the shrine. dont like the result? BYE! what is the CHALLENGE? i want an event where something crazy can happen. and i have to deal with it. maybe it'll be a total WTF type thing that GGG love like spawning 100 blood mobs. idk, and idc. but if i can just wave a wand and make it all go away, its not really a very fun event. if i have to stop and take a deep breath with my party, and we all kind of nervous cuz who KNOWS what shizzle about to go down up in heah, that's excitement, that's interesting. that's my opinion. |

poe is balanced around alt-f4 and quick escapes. people die all the time still. while im not strictly opposed to the idea of disabling portals in a radius around the shrine, i dont really think its needed. players either accept a challenge or run away screaming, both of which are fun outcomes in my opinion.
GGG is also very good at tying in risk with reward so lets see how this pans out before putting the complaints department on speed dial pls. |

It's going to be weird and interesting and who cares if it fucks with the Standard/Perm HC economies? Those leagues will deal with it just like they've dealt with every other economy-shattering change that has happened since Open Beta. |

Probably some rules will apply to shrines:
- good ones gated by area lvl. - results not constant - bricked gg unique won't always yield a corrupting tempest but it may also yield 3 abaxoths, maybe Think of them as masters combined with divination cards - they won't spawn at the same spot, there will be an array of results per type of item sacrificed. As for the rich getting richer shtick, it's easy. 1. Be successful streamer and get item donations or 2. Nolife the shit out of the game with a friend and MF build with PA or FlameTTMs till you amass enough rares. Being happy is hard work.

I'll also remind you that opening a strongbox was among the best ways to kick the bucket in flashback. Sure, we're careful and there are ways to do it safely but shit still happens when there's a lot of ruckus going on. Besides, we have no idea what will the beneficial effect be, maybe something like " Something like Zana's mission mod, and that would require clearing the area to be sure, it would make farming shrines a bit iffy and no worse than tempest watching or ghostbusting. Seriously, you know what were the prices of divines during tempest because of corrupting ones? Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
