Item suggestion - Orb that increases item level?
I would think you'd need a severe cap on how often you can do it per item or else end-game gear would just be too easy to get.

" That's what I'm saying though. If you read my post, you'd cap the orbs so they only go high enough to get 5 or 6 sockets on an item, nothing more. That way you aren't taking away from the end-game loot -Edit- Maybe the orbs could only be used on unique items? That way it doesn't affect late game loot as much, since uniques are uncommon to begin with. Last edited by garou1911#4644 on Feb 15, 2013, 4:14:28 AM

Necro'd, because I think this is a good suggestion, it just needs a couple tweaks...
First, item level needs to be displayed before this could really work. It would be too annoying to use the /itemlevel command all the time. Second, it needs some RNG. Two reasons: guaranteed-effect orbs are bad, and this orb would be OP when used to bump level 65-ish items up to level 79-ish. If you make the chance of success a function of the item's current item level, it could mean: the higher the item level you're using the orb on, the less chance it has to increase. This could balance the 65-to-79 issue. This formula would probably involve some sort of exponential. A really simple example: (1-itemlevel/100)^2. So a level 10 item under this example would have a 81% chance to up to level 11, but a level 70 item would only have a 9% chance. Leveling an item all the way from 18 to 78 wouldn't require 60 orbs, but likely hundreds, which is befitting the benefit it provides. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
