Nothing is set in stone yet so those values may change, also we don't know what we can charge for these items. Either way, it should be a fun game to play and if not we still have PoE =)
This game made me forget about D3, just want to have a PoE beta key
Damn, I was actually for the Auction house, but now this kinda is iffy they charge you WAAY too much just to able to sell anything. This could be a big downfall to the Auction house imo.
Yeah, god forbid, a company is actually charging people for an optional service that the company is offering.
Happy Days Abound.
thats is an exaggeration but close to the truth.
This has been brought up before paypal was confirmed but now that they have a FAQ saying there will be limits on on your Battle.net balance and for the 'power users' the ops article mentions may have to put up with Arbitrage between the Gold and Currency markets if they want to take in less fees for cashing out.

I'll elaborate with an example using the articles made up fees

Dave puts up 12 separate gems for sale at 3 Currency each
-(0.5*12=6) or -6 Currency
Joe buys 8 of them
(8*3=24)-(8*1.50=12)=+12 Currency
so far we're at a +6 Currency profit and two choices
1)if we had chosen to Cash Out on each of those auctions
12-(8*1=8)=+4 Currency so we're in the hole on this sans paypal fees
2)if we had chosen Balance on each of those auctions and buy Gold with Balance and re-list that Gold as Cash Out
12-(0.5+1.5+1=3)=+9 Currency or +3 Currency profit sans paypal fee

IMO option 2 is going to become pretty common for those 'power users' no matter what the fees are anyway but this came to mind when it mentioned limits on Battle.net Balance. I thought of people who're gold capped in WoW and applied it to Battle.net Balance&Cashing Out. My argument assumes that the Gold&Currency markets will reach equilibrium and Dave didn't get undercut trying to re-list that gold as well as the market not inflating/deflating between the time he buys&sold the gold with Currency.

Continuing this post further to the other side of the story, who's buying gold with currency to begin with? Well from my experience in WoW, some people played the Auction House aka Arbitrage I mentioned earlier. I tried playing the Auction House and I'll say it takes a special kind of person, probably someone who plays the stock market to play a game like this and get any fun out of it, especially since there wont be any auction house add-ons that do the math for you

Lucy buys Daves Gold in order to purchase something from the Gold auction house and re-list it on either market for profit.More assumptions made hoping there will be lots of Lucys to help Cash Out Daves, imo it's a safe assumption with all the hurrdurr I'm going to supplement my income!-types

blue-post today even, atm it's 80 cents or 0.8 'beta bucks', currently and they wish for it to stay like this or less, list/closing fees total.
+19 Currency would be the revised total for option 2, +12.8 Currency for option 1
"
...People selling items beyond those free listing will indeed want to make sure their items are of a quality the market deems is worth more than the flat posting and transaction fees, and in fact the game just won't allow you to post under a certain amount. Otherwise they may want to go the gold route, build up some gold, and then sell that through the currency-based auction house.

If you do decide that your sale is something you want to cash out, a percentage will indeed be taken, but we haven't announced any details regarding what the PayPal cash out fees will be yet.
