Diablo 3 - Blizzard being greedy TAKE A LOOK

I think on the example from the article,

they state that for low cost gear won't be viable.

Still pretty sure more expensive stuff will work.

.:It's never too late to become what you might have been:.
People want to try and make money on the side playing D3 and using the AH?

He that cannot reason is a fool.
He that will not is a bigot.
He that dare not is a slave.
Well let's hope what taekvideo said is true and the picture isn't accurate

I thougt there are only 3 fees? Listing, Closing and cash out (if you choose to cash out)? Where does the "Paypal fee" come from? Is it when you take the money from your Paypal Acc and transfer it to your "real" bankacc? If thats the case... you can wait till you have enough money on your paypal acc to make the fee paypal gets smaller. Or you just use the money directly from your paypal acc.

PS: The article sounds like cashout fee =/= paypal fee but I thought cashout fee = "paypal fee". If you choose to cashout the 3rd fee covers the transaction costs to your paypal acc doesnt it?
Nihil Sin Nefas!
There is no information on what the values of the fees are. The pic is just an exaggeration. The bit about owing Blizzard money is very misleading; the calculations include Paypal fees, which don't go to Blizzard.

Listing fees and closing fees make sense. Those can be expected in auctions, generally.

The cash-out fee is a cost to transfer the money from Blizzard to yourself. If you don't cash out, the money stays as a credit balance on your Battle.net account that you can use towards other items. If you want money instead of credit, you cash out and Blizzard takes a fee (I would assume a percent or tiered scale). This is obviously intended to encourage people to use the credit towards the game, which keeps it as internal capital for Blizzard. If you choose not to, they take a cut. That's the only greedy part of the whole deal.

There will be options other than Paypal. I would think they wouldn't limit transactions to a service that's not usable by all players. So, you can probably find a way to transfer money that doesn't involve a fee, such as a credit/debit card.

Of course Blizzard is going to charge for transactions. It's a little silly to think they'll just offer a service for people to make money playing their game.

Edit for sources:
Battle.net Balance FAQ
D3 Auction House FAQ

It seems that Paypal is the only service option to cash out, so Blizzard is going to charge enough to cover their Paypal fees to send you the money plus whatever cut they decide on. Players outside Paypal's service regions won't be able to cash out at all, so this doesn't apply to them. EDIT HERE: the two FAQ's conflict slightly on this. The Battle.net Balance FAQ states that players can cash out through Paypal and doesn't mention any other services. The D3 AH FAQ mentions "approved third-party payment services."

You can directly charge your purchases and listing/closing fees to major credit cards, or use region-specific services similar to Paypal instead of adding credit to your Battle.net account.

We all gave a lot at blizzard for wow/diablo/sc etc.
I find PoE that's it. I'll stay here, No fees, No push to pay, Just IF you want to help the company, Then you can give 2, 3 , 5 dollars, Euros or whatever.
We still must wait for the release to take our impressions.

And if we find a key for betas' test road, Then we'll see better. That's all .

You sir, are feist or fice. Perhaps you should look at the numbers before you start insulting people when you have no idea what you are talking about.

Take your 3 post's and your microphallus out of your mouth and try to be a little respectable :)
Fun things, Sad things... We can't share everything, But what we can, we should share... That is what it means to be a guild. A single persons happiness is everyone's happiness. A single persons anger is everyone's anger. And a single person's tears are everyone's tears.
Buying gear through real money sounds like a shortcut to me.
Where's the fun in playing if you can buy all the goodies right off the bat if you can afford to spend money on it?
even if there were fees shouldn't the buyer pick those up? somewhat like a shipping and handling fee.

that's how i would do it if i were selling.
I'm pretty sure both games are fantastic. I'm still waiting for beta to PoE, though, so haven't really had a chance to test it yet.
