Remove the reward for hardcore players, they are after all "hardcore" are they not?

the only place I can even think about logging into HC currently, is the office PC.
at home, it isn't really an option after what 1.3 brought to the GPU and Loading Screen table.
it was an option, the last time I touched my HC chars. roughly 1 year ago...

only then we can talk about special MTX awards.

Problem with polls is they're usually yes/no, while in this case for many people its not so clear cut, and is kind of yes...but, or no...but.
Sticking on point, if there were more people that really felt strongly about having it they'd be making themselves heard. At the end of the day most players that play hc do so because they 'prefer it/cant bring themselves to do sc' and they don't need a specific reason to play in an hc league,

I am glad that there is only 1 reward.

last 1 month was a stupid red vs blue elitist dick measuring contest in global chat when really these should be done for the fun of it.

it is not all the time we get to play the game where its interesting content is supercharged to be a larger part of game play.

And i really dont think it is particularity fun to force players into doing something they might have zero interest in just for a shiny mtx.

the softcore should enjoy their league and the hardcore the hardcore league. and not need to worry about an exclusive item set that they might want over another.

that is just a recipe to trick people into doing something they could regret down the line. especially since hardcore has permanent repercussions.

jK, I'm always surprised with I don't see a big blue (1) under your name - if there is anything that deserves to be a challenge trophy in game its "Get POE To Run On An Amiga 500"

On topic - Normally I'd agree with OP and push for a separate HC reward (it's free shit, who doesn't like free shit? Honestly people, FREE SHIT!).

However, in this case we're only a few days out from start of the 1 month and it might be unfair to put pressure on GGG to rush something together when jK is kind of right - there might be other areas they can be focusing on at the moment.

I think this is a downside of the current announcement (and possibly planning) system in place? If we're only announcing and organising an event a few weeks before it launches, does it really provide enough time to adequately cover, balance, and test all of the interlocking details before it goes live?

Maybe its time for Chris and the guys to slow down a little bit and put some time into some longterm scheduling and planning around the customer facing side (not just the dev side).

it's one of very few topics I really can't get a joke in, and find insulting.
why? because my PC was top of the line when GGG first coded Path Of Exile, still good enough to run HC and Parties on, when it went into Open Beta, and still good enough to run HC at release.

now, it just isn't. the reason for that, is one can only leave code with no optimization for a limited time before it becomes bloated and beyond repair. especially if you just stack more and more visuals and effects and whatnot, on said horribly un-optimized code.

there's an entire thread about it here in this Feedback forum. people with PCs a hell of a lot stronger than mine, still having trouble with many aspects of PoE since 1.3 - because 1.3 was apparently the straw that broke GGG's age-old engine's back.
but 1.3 is only the end of a line really. the performance of PoE just gets progressively worse with every single patch it seems - because looks like there are no improvements to the places that matter most, since Greg left GGG. content. mtx. eye-candy. balance. but no optimization.

but now you're wondering, how is this even on-topic here?

simple: when you can play the game on a powerful-enough rig like I did on my office PC, it's an entirely different game.

suddenly, the game. the zones. the Strongboxes ... everything just loads. suddenly all of Boem's posts about raw skill make perfect sense when you can actually manual-dodge stuff thrown at you (heck, even some melee attacks that are faster than a Brutus/Vaal Slam). when you can see stuff coming before they already hit you server-side and either 1-shot you or took away 90% of your HP so something else can finish the job, while your client is still in Screen Freeze Mode.
suddenly, you feel like you can beat Malachai - on Normal at least - with zero defenses. because you can fucking dodge what he does. because the game actually fucking responds to what you're trying to do.

suddenly, the game is playable in HC.
but it isn't.
because the way this is going, it's only a matter of time before even Slayer's PC won't be enough to run an ARPG built in the previous decade, in HC.

therefore I'll say it again:
want more people in HC? want people like me to come back to HC?
optimize.
the.
fucking.
game.

right now, I don't care if the the free MTX for HC is Black or Blue or Pink with ribbons - because I won't get it. I'll RIP in 5 minutes to some bullshit I can't do a damned thing about.
unless I play on the SSD i5 lots-of-RAM machine at work. and I can't do a 1-month race at work, obviously. life stuff. business to run. family to feed.

On the plus side, the "hackers" did manage to show that customising the level of particle effects in game is a very possible and achievable thing. GGG ended up implementing the Loot Filter thing from that particular program, so maybe they'll get around to doing the same for graphics customisation? *fingers crossed*

But yes - back on topic again (my apologies for derailing, OP) - I'd love the opportunity to grab a second set of HC MTX, but I'm not in favour of putting too much pressure on GGG regarding it.

I'll play hc because I always play hc... rewards doesn't matter. If there is not the "thrill" of death around every corner I become bored very quickly with PoE. I am playing PoE on a laptop, no SSD, no fancy hardware, I do not lower the graphics like I've seen on many screenshots how other ppl play this unoptimized pile of...game.
I died to almost everything in this game, oneshots, lags, crashes, bugs, my own stupidity (greed) but my RIPs become more and more rarer.

In my opinion players who will now play softcore only because of "buhuhuhuhu hc has no special reward cry cry cry" they are no hardcore players...they are reward-hunters (always taking the easiest way). I like the way it is now because you can chose your prefered gamestyle without being forced to play something you don't like and still getting rewarded.


BUT (!!) ... this game NEEEEEDS optimization!

Go on...do it GGG.
