Molten Strike Iron grip point blank Marauder passive tree, need help on a few things :)
So i just made this passive tree for a MS marauder, i'm wondering about what to link with my molten strike, as i want to use it for AOE and Single target, i feel like i need to scale the projectiles AND the base hit, any advice on gear, different skill tree, and most of all, as i said, SUPPORT GEMS, i'm a little clueless tbh ! Thankyou in advance for feedback, once i actually make the build, i'll post progress in gearing and maybe even some videos ;)

There is a sub section of the forums dedicated to this particular aid.
The gameplay help sub section. I wouldn't be amazed if a mod moves this thread there :). The passive tree looks solid on a quick glance. some notes -> 1) MS is a double entity attack, what i mean with this is that it has - a melee physical hit component - a secondary projectile based component As such melee specific modifiers will only apply to the initial hit and projectile based nodes will only effect the secondary effect. However, weapon specific nodes(in your case axes and two handed nodes) will both apply to the initial and secondary part of the attack.(since these nodes are based on the weapon + type utilized) You seem to have absolutely no intelligence and dexterity, this is not a bad thing but could prevent the aid of support gems/skills and aura's.(this will become apparent once you gain in-game experience with the build/design) I also assume you are going to link blood magic? I don't really see a means to sustain your attack in the passive tree. I would suggest getting the +2 mana on hit node in the duelist area. This will most likely allow you to spam your attack without needing blood magic, this opens up a gem slot and thus offers potentially higher damage. (mana on hit is gained for "every hit" and since the initial hit of MS + the projectile component all "hit" that's a lot of mana gained) Peace and best of luck sir, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

Aha !!! yeah i just got the message saying the thread has been moved ! the mana gain on hit option seems pretty good, my initial plan was to go with blood magic yeah but having a free slot would be amazing. Any thoughts on Gmp/Lmp with MS ?

Both are solid options depending on your damage out-put.
(in theory if stuff dies rapid, you can change to GMP for more coverage etc) I would probably go with MS + multistrike + melee phys + L/Gmp(depends on damage) + life gain on hit + maybe conc effect as a last link though this is debatable and other options can be utilized. Life gain on hit is a must though with a build like this, given the number of hits (initial + projectiles) you will have a bunch of survive ability because of it. And stuff like GMP only increases this. I suggest just testing it in a live environment, nothing beats that when it comes to theory-crafting. Make a blue-print and a concept and then submit it to live testing and make adjustments based on how it performs. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

L/GMP suck dick with Molten. Molten Strike - Faster Attacks - Multistrike - Melee Phys - WED - Added Fire. Drop FA for 5L or Blood Magic. Drop Added Fire for 5L with Blood Magic. Also, 2 mana on hit will not be enough to sustain you mana pool. Youll need to get some Int/mana and mana leech.

" Why Melee Phys when it does not benefit the projectiles? I prefer to change that to Phys to lightning or Point blank since the projectile will almost always be in point blank range. Path of exile - The real sequel to Diablo 2

Point blank is already on the skill tree, so is iron grip, that's why i was thinking adding more proj would be good.

" Once they did, on a projectile-oriented Molten build they don't anymore, LMP will give you 40% more area dps and GMP a whooping 72% more. Not to mention the added benefit of triggering more on hit effects so 2-4 mana on hit should be enough on multiple enemies. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs. ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux]► ◄[www.moddb.com/mods/one-vision1]► Last edited by raics#7540 on Sep 25, 2015, 4:00:49 AM
