trades are kinda not happening, not sure if this would require some kind of currency

They will eventually integrate the in game trading with the website/forums. SO no to an auction house. I play this game for the Hack & Slash game it is. I don't want to play yet another Auction House Simulator.
Just give them time and they will get stuff done. Patience is a virtue you know. I used to play Diablo 3, then I realized it doesn't have a Shabby Jerkin.

Trades happen constantly. Try unchecking show trade chat, or just hit enter and type $ and you will see all the trade spam.

I wouldn't mind an auction house, if it was less of an auction house and more of a board to put your items up, and other people could put what they're willing to trade, then you can look through, see what you like and trade.
With that being said, I would not be upset over having to stick with trade ch/forums That's just my two cents though.
