Single target lightning spells?

Hi all,
I just wanted to ask to other lightning spellcaster how are they dealing with bosses or tough rares. I'm a shock nova build. And i'm really struggling against bosses and rares because i can't find a good lightning single target skill. The skill should require a 4l, since my 5l will be shock nova; and it must deal (ofc) more damage to single targets than shock nova itself. At the moment i tried: Arc --> lol no, worst than shock nova Spark --> felt ok, but still very slightly superior to shock nova. It was after all a waste of 4 preciuos sockets Storm call --> The only spell that could help. Unfortunately against some bosses is really difficult to aim Tendrils --> lower damage than shock nova, while also ataying stationary Lightning trap --> must test it No luck unfortunately... i'm seriously thinking of using firestorm or flame surge for single target even as a lightning build :/ Keep in mind that i will be somewhat tanky, so i could go in melee with some of the map bosses/bosses in general Any advice? Well Arc, for the most part is better off when it comes to multi-targeting because of chaining up to 5 or 6 (lvl 21) mobs.
To answer your question, the single target lightning spell I use if the boss/rare is alone is Ball Lightning. May have a low damage effectiveness, but when using damage penetration and/or crit, it is an amazing single target skill. I know this is a 5L setup, but you can omit the added light dmg support gem, and that can be your 4L setup. Edit: If you feel that spell echo makes you more stationary with Ball Lightning, you can switch it out with Faster casting support gem. Vaal Storm Call is pretty awesome. Auto-targets in a fairly good radius, ticks along while your Shock Nova dings away at the boss too.

thx fot the suggestions,
i already have a vaal sc that im leveling. so ill keep it just in case. problem is in maps i wont be able to spam it on every rare as for geofri, i wont use it since my build heavy relies on armor (ill need a 500+ armor helm) for BL: ill give it a try... but i dunno if would deal more dmg than a 5l shock nova imo a good single target light spell is still missing... hope we'll get one ty all for advices tho!!! |

+1 to Vaal SC, i'm using it in a 4L, i run around with 7 power charges and The Three Dragons.. my links are VSC+Conc effect+crit+crit damage and oh boy... :D
The character is still in leveling phase, so i cannot say how VSC works in 75+ maps, but so far it seems promising, it really helps against single targets(my main skill is EK). d:-D*

Ball lightning is a beast for both single target and AOE. So much so that after starting to use it for bosses, I dropped my aoe skill altogether.
