I'm just nitpicking.

Sure enough, but it's no wonder many find the compensation inadequate. Armor probably got the best deal even though it went down a notch, life you can get from jewels is hardly enough assuming an average build with 3-4 sockets. ES change is functional and hard to gauge, it strikes me as more of an added benefit as people still don't build around natural recharge.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" i dunno why im so mysterious but , i played tempest, i dont play at all right now. does that make a big difference ? i think the tiers are same for all leagues imo. you may take more risk in softcore leagues but it doesent change the level of the maps or difficulty. true althought ability to gib let you chill about def(my marauder has 3,7k even not, does 73-75 maps etc. Matking him hc viable wouldnt make much sense here, besides I have no idea what does it mean in details.

Life is your primary line of deffense, you need a good amount of hit. But you also need to stack other defenses mechanics if you want to stay alive. Life alone is like a house in paper, no matter how big it is, if you do not build something else to protect it, it will be blown away by the slightest wind.

I run 6.75K HP, 40% dodge, 30% spell dodge, 10K evasion and still feel quite vulnerable to many treats.

I run a really squishy build with fortify for my discharger (Paroxya). She can survive 1-shots from most sources of damage. There are a few things out there which still hit really hard though and a few things that do 1-shot me at 3700 life. I'm trying to get myself over 4200 at which point I think I'll be in a good spot, especially if I'm good about keeping fortify up.
Most of my mitigation comes from vaal pact just immediately healing me up. Plus with a surgeons flask I can essentially spam flasks while I'm in combat. Every Saturday = National Booze n Poe Day

My evasion/dodge long range EK crit Witch does relatively fine with her 3.9k life since i try to manually dodge all bigger attacks (Flame Dash ftw.!). If, however, she does get hit, it really hurts.
Before she had some 80% projectile speed increase, i would often die from random monster hits. My LMP CI Infernal Mantle crit Fireball Shadow (btw: that is a quite a lot of tags there o.O) relies purely on natural ES regen and a relatively large ES pool to survive - as well as an Ice Golem with Blind linked ;) He is currently sitting at 5.5k ES and also does pretty well in early 68-72 maps (lvl 72 atm). As a rule of thumb, i would say: Aim for ~150% increased max life or ~230% increased max ES on a CI build (including INT bonus). Anything with less than 120-130% max life increase at level 70 will have a very hard time progressing in maps, even with a ton of refill via flasks, leech etc. 11.02.2013 - 11.02.2017: four year PoE anniversary!
