PoE - Blizzard -activision Patch
" 1)Good, now content won't be "trivialized" by potion chugging adding a new depth to the game 2)Again a good change, the "sphere grid" is really just superficial 3)Ok this is a bad change 4)graphic change after launch is a bad idea . 5)Amazing change, finally bosses have a real challenge to them 6/7)These mechanics like crit scream "balance around me" 8)If they nerfed heal and damage I assume combat would have more depth like diablo 3, VERY GOOD CHANGE 9)I'm not sure why they would add more diffcultys when maps are what fill that void for us. 10)Good change overall for temp leagues, perma leagues will suffer 11)20 fusings for a 6l? I could see them doing it for a 5l but 6l being "unattainable" is a core feature, don't kid yourself. 12)So what? Vendors man 13/14)see fusing 15)THANK GOD EXALTED DROPS MORE, lol adds one RANDOM MOD to a item and the average player might be lucky to see even 1. 16)I doubt that would happen, although I can see ID scrolls being very easy to get (40 for 1 alt) 17)Making players have to cast portal and take a gem slot is actually not a bad idea 18)Thats a cool change, will assume its toggable 19)THANK GOD MIRRORS ARE GONE, so dumb a GG item can be cloned a "unlimited" amount of times 20)LOVE HOW ETERNAL ORBS ARE COMMON, finally the common man can craft! 21)Who doesn't love set items 22)More depth to combat <3 Overall looks like the new golden age of POE |

" I agree I also preferred D3 on release, with inferno A2 being hard as shit, nether tentacles or whatever being OP, farming resplendent chests, etc. |

" I understand what you're saying, but I don't believe that water (or even gold) is particularly analogous to whether or not a video game is fun (in this case, rewarding/unrewarding). Everyone needs water, but nobody needs to play a video game. The same thought processes that go into thinking about natural resources likely don't apply to whether or not someone enjoys a video game. How many successful video games have absolutely nothing to do with acquiring items at all? Do people only enjoy reading rare books or watching obscure, hard to find films, because of their scarcity? Beyond the financial aspect, scarcity/abundance of resources has practically nothing to do with what one enjoys in his or her leisure time, in my opinion. Also consider that I had much more fun with Torchlight 2 than I've had with Path of Exile, but I believe I only put in around ~70 hours total with TL2. Same gametype, but obviously structured very differently to reach a different audience. How abundant were items in TL2? If items in TL2 are more abundant than in PoE, why do I like TL2 more? " I'd be willing to bet that most people find PoE very unrewarding once they reach a certain point. A lot of people probably try the game out for a short time and find it just isn't fun for them, specifically because it often feels so unrewarding in video game terms. Not everyone wants to work all day and then come home and feel like they have to work more in order to get satisfaction from a leisure activity. Some people just want to do something mindless to relieve stress, for example. PoE appeals to a smaller crowd of gamers who don't mind putting in the extra time and effort that this game demands in order for it to really feel rewarding (and that's okay!). This leads in to the next part of your paragraph though, and it's the part I definitely agree with. I've said it before in other threads: even though I wish some aspects of PoE were very different, I still respect GGG for creating the game they wanted to create and then sticking to it, instead of simply appealing to the masses to try and rake in the cash. I wouldn't agree that all big AAA titles are bad games though, because I've enjoyed many of them (for example, I loved the Mass Effect games), but I'd definitely agree that the F2P corner of the market is full of cash grabs. Concerning longevity: The hours I played with TL2 are exactly what you're talking about, but of course that game wasn't designed to be a persistent FP2 game. Ultimately, I tend to agree with those who believe the game is largely unrewarding, but I still think it's a fun game despite having (what I consider to be) some major flaws. (Keep in mind this isn't an argument; we're just having a discussion and these are just my opinions) Last edited by Vicariously#6369 on Aug 9, 2015, 9:20:31 PM

I hope I never reach a point in my life where I feel so low that I need to belittle people for playing a different video game just to feel good.
