[feedback] Pit map
This map is out of line with other's in it's map tier rank.
The main reason is that the final pit fight has ranged attackers in them (chicken nuggets) that behave like a "shotgun" effect if you cant clear them out fast enough. I suggest to remove the ranged units from the final pit fight, putting the mobs at the same disadvantage melee is when entering the pit. Or alternatively, proq the pit fight reinforcements based on the boss hp% that way it's an active decision of the player to either go full mental on the pit and just burst the boss down, or alternatively clear it out, then proceed to boss and repeat. For reference i did it with this character
Spoiler
Core relevant stats 3200hp 24% physical reduction /49% with granite/65% with golem and endurance charges + all mentioned before 11K lightning ice crash before penetration takes effect 10.5% life regen (4% degen of bloodrage still apply's) so roughly 7% 2% life leach from warlords mark all the time 20% on hit reduction from fortify With these stats i facetank dunes boss of the same map tier and i would probably be able to facetank bartuk if not for the shotgun waves which put this map end-boss fight in roughly 70 tier difficulty. This was without map modifiers, which again would exponentially increase the difficulty because of this ranged stacking on melee characters. Peace, -Boem- note : i should say that i can probably overcome this fight simply by buying and leveling a vaal storm call to sweep the entire area with this build. Main point remains that it is out of line with others in it's tier due to the aforementioned mechanics stacking of ranged chicken nuggets. edit : also, this character is "under development" so disregard some of its item pieces, the combined stats should suffice for 68 map tiers :) Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes Last edited by Boem#2861 on Jul 26, 2015, 1:46:45 AM

Picture time! to prove my point :D
![]() ![]() Hope these work, i usually fuck my pictures up. First picture : i clear one side of the arena, keep moving around to try and contain the amount of mobs in the pit fight. By the time i reach the other side there's roughly 20+ chicken nuggets all awaiting my arrival. Second picture is what happens when you try to rezone into the fight. Completely surrounded by roughly 35 chicken nuggets all firing on you at the same time. I try to shield charge out (so i have what equates to roughly 90% move speed due to shield charge modifier) and i still don't make it till the end of my charge, let alone actually "standing still" to do an attack in place = sudden death. This also highlights why "movement skills" like cyclone are so exceedingly popular. The sheer amount of damage avoidance by being "in movement" constantly, coupled with situations like this map presents you with. Peace, -Boem- edit : that will have to do :), keep in mind this is with ice crash at 11k dps before lightning penetration takes effect. So i would assume my "dps check" is ok and so is my "aoe coverage check". ![]() the only way i was able to do this numerous times is because i could lure the boss from the pit, kill him alone then enter the pit and immediately cast vaal skeletons once the gates close. if it werent for skellies id probly never be able to do it on that level because of being a friggin glass cannon. im actualy able to summon vaal skellies two times while in there lol |

oh, me and my buddy melted this boss, he was incenerate, and I'm playing reave.
my friend was underleveled and I was same level as zone, we both thought it was an awesome map because we just stood there and got so much exp. guess its a build issue then, massive aoe builds seem like them wont have much issue items:

" It is mainly about killing the boss quickly, which is easy with Incinerate, because you have a bit of range and he comes to you anyway. Not to mention that with 2 players you only have 50% increased xp, so more players always makes the game easier. I took him on with my summoner and went into a corner and cleared the adds... however after I used Vaal Skeletons 5 times and had the next one ready I portaled out, the boss was somewhere else, no idea, for the next time I just pulled him out of the arena without entering it for an easy fight. But the adds don't seem to stop, they just spawn and spawn and spawn. I killed 320 enemies (since every one gives one soul) in the pit, which seems a bit odd, and everything was still full of mobs. |

" thats why i suggested its most likely a build issue, some bosses are way easier to kill with some builds than others. I also rock a life gain on hit gem with 5+ aps which makes my build a bit better for this fight as well. R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

The point of this thread is to illustrate it's out of balance compared to other 68 maps.
And that's mostly due to the pit getting filled massively by ranged chicken nuggets. @amp Just look at your gear man. Are you going to say that's standard "lets enter 68 maps" gear? Even a 5-link to boot...i mean you could get lucky and drop that randomly i suppose, but that's quite a bit of luck going your way, just to be able to beat this one map in the 68 row. Also your going in with 2 players, which means your dividing the ranged assault of the chicken nuggets in halve. The fight shouldn't be balanced around such a notion. Not to mention your mate is incinerate, which sort of melts everything in this current version of PoE and is ranged. --------- If they just removed the chicken nuggets from the waves, this map would be tolerable for a lot more builds. As is, you can easily get "sniped" by 30+ of them, all amped up on frenzy charges in most cases and map modifiers. My point is not "QQ map to hard heu heu" My point is "this map is out of line with other 68 maps, due to the pit mechanics" I am happy you can beat it amp and like i mentioned, if i bring a vaal storm call with my build, i'll also probably rek it. But that's beside the point of this thread. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

" but my point is isnt that how most of the game is and how maps have always been? I guess you have brought that up a lot in the pass though, I'm sure you've mentioned shipyard boss and what not being too easy for the level he's on. fair enough then :) (ps I did drop the 5L :O only bought the swords for 4c each rest self found) R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.

^In fact i have, but it's far less relevant since he's later in the chain and not in the "entrance to maps" pool.
Also shipyard isn't "biased" to a single play-style, hes easy for all builds equally. Pit is biased to ranged due to the chicken nugget stacking. Since even with AOE (i'm an ice crash user, i got AOE) you can't clear all the gates, so they pile up regardless of your efforts. Also gz on the 5-link, but like i mentioned that shouldn't be a requirement for a 68 map. Not everybody will be that lucky. And your weapons far exceed the norm for 68 maps. Eagle gutter is what? 200 dps or so? That's a weapon to do 74+ maps with easily. But that commentary on your gear is all besides the point of this thread though, relevant to influence your perception of the map and it's experience, but irrelevant to my point. Just did it solo for reference and still did it without dying, life gain on hit really shines there. my build would actually have a harder time without the adds now that I think about it.
But after doing it solo I think you are right, its doable for my build, but I think its a pretty niche case of massive attack speed and lgoh (48 lgoh * 6.68 without 4 frenzy charges/onslaught). I couldn't imagine attempting without massive dps or massive leech. R.I.P. my beloved P.o.E.
