{2.0}Spectral Gods: Spectre Tier List

Build List/Guides:
"

I am running out of room on my initial post. So I will post the spectre tier list here.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS HIGHLY OPINIONATED***

Here is my impromptu tier list. This is entirely based my own opinion and experiences. I take four factors into consideration. DPS, Tankiness, Utility, 'Derpiness' of the AI.

"
Tier 0: Good AI | Extreme DPS | No-brainer choice
Tier 1: Good AI | Fairly Tanky with Good-Very good DPS |
Tier 2: Ok-Good AI | Either tanky with Ok dps or good dps but a bit squishy
Tier 3: Poor-Good AI | Mediocre in the both the offense and defense department
Shit Tier: Extremely poor AI, mediocre dps, just bad... real bad

I will list their tags, ideal linkage in my opinion. And Brief description of their Mechanics and AI. Link to DB for damage values.
Ideal aura setup. And location to summon them in Merc Difficulty. The ones not summoned from act3/act4 will only be viable if found in a map.

{} = this will denounce Ideal 4L

Tier 0 : No further thought needed picks

Nothing ATM.
Prenerf Revenants and burning miscreations use to be here

Tier 1 : top picks
Spoiler

Stygian Revenants - The Harvest
http://poedb.tw/us/mon.php?n=Stygian+Revenant
* Spell | Projectile | Lightning
{RS + Echo + Chain + Minion Damage} + GMP/LMP + Lightpen
Auras: Wrath
AI/Mechanics:
Shoots projectile in a line in front, does have a melee attack so mid to range combat is necessary to maximize dps.
- A good contender that does not need to be map level(default spectre till map one is found)

Knitted Horrors - Dried Lake(corpses unable to be desecrated) - Utility**
http://poedb.tw/us/mon.php?n=Knitted+Horror
* Ranged Atk | bleeds100% | pierce 100% | phy100%
{RS + GMP/LMP + Minion Damage + Phy Proj} + Slower Proj + Added Fire/Hypothermia(if using chills)
Auras: Hatred
AI/Mechanics:
Spectre has 3 archers on it's back that shoots projectiles no matter how close mobs are to it. Projectiles seem to always pierce with 100% chance to bleed. Due to this mechanic this spectre is quite strong with vulnerability curse and synergies well with bloodlust supported zombies, skele, SRS
- A good contender that does not need to be map level(default spectre till map one is found)

Flame Sentinels - Solaris Temple 2
http://poedb.tw/us/mon.php?n=Flame+Sentinel
* Spell | Projectile | Fire | Default LMP
{RS + Echo + Minion Damage + Chain/lmp/gmp} + Fire Pen + Slower Proj/Hypothermia(if using chills)
Auras: Anger
AI/Mechanics:
Spectre already has lmp fireballs. They are floating which allows them to avoid any sort of ground effect. Pretty tanky with a natural es shield.
Will need to be map level to contend.

Tier 2 :
Spoiler

* Ranged Spell | Fire | Projectile fireball | Firetrap like skill
http://poedb.tw/us/mon.php?n=Undying+Incinerator
{RS + GMP + Chain + Echo} + Minion Damage + Firepen
Auras: Anger
AI/Mechanics: Fires a single fireball and also places fire traps on the ground. Will fire their projectiles even if they are in close proximity. Traps are able to be supported with multitrap and echo resulting in 6 traps
Will need to be map level to contend.

Poor Stygian Revenants, falls so quickly to tier 1..
I'm considering adding a 4L spectre to my SRS build. My auras are Hatred+Anger. I dont think I'll be going Knitted Horrors + Bloodlust.

The best DPS spectre would be tentacle miscreations, but they're super squishy. Other than that do revenants benefit from Hatred? Any thoughts on other spectres that 1) attack fast 2) have phys damage 3) aren't squishy?

Where are Evangelists ?

The way I saw it the spectre was carrying my build not the other way around. Now I have to manipulate portions of the build, ie having to always use wrath, needs offensive curse. Any time a spectre is super efficient in a 4L I would consider that tier 0. The last time any spectre reached tier 0 was burning miscreations with cast on death more multiplier/aoe quality bonus.

Tier 0 is pretty much Use this spectre fellow summoners for it is OP as fuck.

Revenants are lightning spell projectile.
If your open to a good melee spectre option am currently exploring Behemoths from the mines. Their AI does constant ground slams. And being a bulky melee mob they are really really tanky not statue level tanky but tanky.

One draw back is their retarded movement speed. So slow...

{RS + Mstrike + Minion Damage + IAOE} + MPD + MinionSpeed/KnockBack/Stun

Evangelist will be on this list eventually. I like to play test before posting to this list.

Based on your criteria Undying Incinerators should be tier 2. They are not tanky in anyway and they have minion instability build in when they get low life.
Thanks for the guide. Knitted Horrors are my guys at the moment ^_^ They're super super deadly with GMP.

I think Carrion Queens are worth a mention. Not good at higher levels, of course, but worth having when you're at that stage in the game.
I tend to always have Bones of Ullr and a 4L before I start using RS so by default I run 2 as soon as I get the skill.
My personal spectres progression goes something like this:

Act 3 Normal:

Carrion Queen
(RS + Minion Damage + LMP + Minion Speed)
They have great damage for early act 3, and in normal, they tend to be superior to the Flame Sentinal, as they are a lot tankier.

Undying Evangelist:
(RS + Minion Damage + Faster Casting + Minion Speed)
Other than their insanely slow cast speed by default, with a support, you can have 2-3 of them bombarding packs quite easily, I generally grab them as I come across them omw to Dom.

Act 4 Normal:

Lanternbearers:
(RS + Minion Damage + LMP + Minion Speed)
The lanternbearers in the Mines are great for pack clearing if you choose to forgo the evangelists, I only use these if one of my evangelists drops between raise and Malachai.

Revenants:
(RS + Minion Damage + Chain + Minion Life)
By default the Revenant has good clear speed, the normal revenants can carry you up through Act 2 Cruel. Generally around Act 3 Cruel they fall off hard, so it's time to repeat the cycle from Normal.

Cruel:
Revenants until you get to City of Sarn, pick up 3 Carrion Queens and roll it to Solaris, at Solaris pick up a couple of Sentinals. Once you get to Scepter swap to Evangelists, and run those up to The Harvest in Act 4 Cruel, then move to Revenants.

Merciless:
Here is where I select which Spectre to use based on my build. Depending on Auras/Curses you are running in your build, your spectre will be decided by that.

Sentinals - Great for Fire damage builds, just be sure if you run EE keystone, that you're main skill isn't fire.

Evangelists - Same thing as Sentinals, if you prefer AoE over projectile spectres, and lacking a small bit in the defensive department.

Revenants - My personal choice through Merciless, as I tend to run a firestorm multicurse build, so running EE doesn't hurt my sentinals at all.

Any comments or feedback are welcome. This is just my 2 cents thrown in the pot.
Bless you for doing this. After several merciless runs (30 minutes) to get 4 revenants, I'm ready for the knitted horrors. You are a saint among men. Revenants can suck my dodongo.
Flame sentinals can be obtained in the Eternal Lab, which is level 68, 4 levels higher than Solaris 2.

To get them I have had to restart the zone several times.
If i dont get one in the first 3 castings of descecrate, i leave and restart it.
