wow !! so my pc can run everything except poe
I played new witcher gta 5 new call of duty new battlefield and many more. all games work flawlessly on low to mid settings 1920x1080 resoluton
Now i expect there is no way poe is gonna lag, not this 10 year old graphics... Turns out im wrong. As soon as i jump into party, my fps drops from 150 to 20-30. Malachai.. LOL if i had few more fps maybe i could dodge some of that shit he throws at me.. One of the bosses before Malachai that throws stromcalls also lags badly. Boss in act 1 prison and lunaris, when he starts casting ground slam my fps drops from 150 to 10. This is the only game where droping texture quality affects your fps negatively So far i blamed my junk old pc for fps drops when i should have blamed GGG for doing crappy job at optimizing the game. But the important thing is that we get new MTX's all the time right? I regret every penny i spent on this game! It is impossible for me to understand how can you make such a good game and make it unplayable because of graphics optimization??? WTFF?!?!? This thread has been automatically archived. Yes, POE is the worst case of optimization in gaming history. No wonder you can run GTA 5, but can't run POE. Based on how things are POE is 10 times more demanding on PC than it should be, however there is a way to improve things a bit.
I had (and still have) same problem, but there few options what you can do. Read this: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1291502 https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/73322 I personally got best effect while adding --nopreload and changing graphics in production_Config.ini |

" Yes ,POE is poorly optimized.. It is however an Indie company who depend on MTX sales . To be able to find a solution you need to post your rig. Works well on mine (wich is pretty crappy) (150fps??) whats your monitors refresh rate? L **Better to burnout , than to fade away**

I cannot run Witcher and GTA5 (I think) and PoE runs far from optimal. It's playable, though. Of course I also get frame rates of under 30, but it's hardly ever so bad that I can't play.
PoE is weird in that regard. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" wrong. it depends on people who can actually run the game because there is not many of idiots like me who spend $$ on games they cannot run on their brand new pc's On the matter of my pc specs, i got intel core i 5, radeon r9 270, 12 gb of some fancy ass super expensive ram, 120gb ssd that poe is installed on, windows 7 because 8 is junk. I will try to replace my gpu with some nvidia equivalent like gtx 750 titanium. if that doesnt work i give up on this game |

You should enable VSync in game, even if you hate it as an option like i am. And switch to fullscreen mode instead of windowed/borderless window.
I made a comparisson test just like two days ago on CPU and GPU loads with VSync turned on/off and Fulscreen/Windwoed options. The Result was strange and not logical in any way - when VSync was turned off i used Bandicam (programm for taking screenshots and video capture) to cap fps to 59. With VSync off and fps cap of 59 through Bandicam - CPU and GPU loads are two/two and a half times bigger than with VSync turned on in game. It's strange because Vsync om my monitor limits fps to those exactly same 60 frames as Bandicam do, but for some reason puts a lot less stress on both GPU and CPU. I never play with Vsync on, but PoE is the only exception now to this rule i guess. ps if someone will ask for a proof screenshots, will easily upload them. pps you don't need titanium for PoE. If anything I run GTA 5 almost maxed smoothly. But PoE without Vsync give me 200 fps then jumps suddnly to 250, theese stutters are unplayebale. But with VSync, which is really an evil thing, stuttering in Fullscreen mode is gone. Try it out and you can put easily all on max. I have i5 devil's canyon, 16gb ram, 560ti, playing on win 7. As you can see - even old 560ti runs PoE smoothly on max. Last edited by DrakeDog#4130 on Jul 20, 2015, 10:15:31 AM

With my rig:
AMD Phenom 3100 mhz unlocked to 4 cores 8G Ram SSD Win 7 64bit Nvidia Gtx550TI I got steady 60 fps ,but need to turn shadows off in certain areas.Vsync on ofc. I have really no idea why you get thoose fps drops on your rig? Try turning Vsync on and lower, disable shadows to see if anything gets better. Rgds , L **Better to burnout , than to fade away**

Yeah, the optimisation is very bad.
Something is very wrong with the frametimes - sometimes it spikes massively. 90% of the time my frametimes are 16ms - that's 60fps. But it frequently spikes into the thousands - highest I saw in MSI Afterburner so far was something like 17000ms - that's insane, and causes a lot of stutter. I use RivaTuner to limit FPS to 60, to try and get smoother frame-pacing, but frametime spikes still occur. Playing windowed fullscreen (for triple buffering?) with ingame vsync disabled, using Nvidia Adaptive vsync instead (less than 60fps = vsync off, more than 60fps = vsync on). Maybe time to move to DirectX 11, or even 12. My system specs: i7-2600K @ 4.5GHz MSI Geforce GTX 970 OC 16GB 1866MHz CL8 RAM Samsung 840 Pro 250GB SSD Win 7 x64 Steam version of POE Last edited by hurrak4n#2447 on Jul 20, 2015, 10:27:13 AM

" Believe me, i tried every single combination of graphics setting in poe (ingame options and productionconfing.ini aswell) and my amd catalyst. They all give same results. 100+ fps when i play solo. 0 fps when my screen is full of projectiles and spells in full party. 10-20 avrage fps when fighting malachai and huge fps spikes when fighting bosses like the big dude in act 1 upper prison. when he casts his ground slam my fps drops form 100+ to 0. atziri trio when the room is full of crap on the ground my fps drops significantly as well. same with mini boss before malachai. when she starts spawning that same crap on the ground like on atziri tio it kills my fps to the point where i can barely move. |

" Hey, i laso use Rivatuner to limit fps, but that as i posted earlier about GPU/CPU load. With Rivatuner cap and windowed fulscreen i get stuttering gaemplay and varying frame time. Also double the CPU and GPU loads than with VSync on. Try to play in Fulscreen with Vsync and Rivatuner one frame less than your refresh rate to avoid mouse lag. You have a good PC so alt-tabbing from fulscreen won't take musch time anyway. My alt-tabbing is like less than 1-1.5 seconds. At least your frames times will be smooth with Vsync and rivatuner. " This sounds very similar to you having CPU 100% usage problem - try to diagnose what is bottlenecking you in those moments - launch task manager and open CPU graphs, then launch GPU monitoring software, like MSI Afterburner. While they are launched play those levels and encounters, than alt-tab to see what was utilised by 100% - CPU or GPU. Also i had problems a few years ago in beta when was playing on x86 32 bit system, make sure you are running seven x64 because it is much smoother for PoE.
