An auction house will ruin this game just as surely as it ruined D3. I love the system the way it is and feel an extraordinary rush every time I make a good deal trading with someone in A1N. Please, GGG, keep it the way it is and don't go down the path that has been proven game-wrecking.

This, auction houses definitly doesnt fit in loot based Hack&Slay games.
As discussed and explained millions of times here.
I really hope, GGG make never the mistake to introduce this here.

All who wants it: please, PLEASE go playing WoW or other MMO stuff.
Really.

What's so different between poe.trade and an auction house though? (except auction houses are easier to use/set up).
I search for an item, I find it, I buy it. The only difference is I need to contact a player.

Not saying you're wrong, I'm just honestly interested in what the big difference would be (as I've only thought about this for about 20 seconds ^^ ).

It makes items more rare. Without an auction house, GGG can make items more powerful. With an auction house the accessibility to end game items goes way up and it is MUCH easier to get.

Right now, the option to trade is still there, but it is more rare. Not everyone trades because it has to be face to face. This puts more emphasis on self found, and trading for those few pieces you might need.

Without an auction house you are also more likely to settle for "less than perfect" items. With an auction house it often becomes even the most OP end game items are worthless unless they have perfect rolls.

It just makes the gear everyone is wearing more diverse, and allows GGG to make really fun items.

At this point, what I read into the improvements that you can suggest is completely Biased and lack the reality of what you actually experienced. From your previous post to the current I read on thing and one thing only, "I played the game 5 minutes, couldn't kill Dominus so now I have to RAGE RAGE RAGE because I can not take my money and purchase what people spent hours and hours to procure." The small group of friends that I have been playing with over the weekend has had nothing but "Whoa, Cool and Holy Crap that was hard!" But, we managed to making it though while enjoying the wonderful tile set of this whole new Act. Now, it is not without its problems as far as the Server crashing ever now and then on the War Bands, but that has been "allegedly" repaired. I Have played p2p and p2w games before and never have I seen such passion to fix and repair Issues since FFS sill owned HGL.. These Programmers did a heck of a Job IMHO, and i totally just lost the last two days of my life glued to the computer screen. I hope GGG can keep up the Great work. One question though.. What does "On Probation" Mean?
He posted some pretty vile stuff and got muted. No way to tell how long, but the first offense usually gets you 24 hours. It builds up though, for subsequent offenses. Many long time posters have been given month long probation for simply drunk-posting their minds.
I'd like to see a shop system like the Japanese ARPG called Redstone that I played years ago.

Players can pick a spot, and set up a shop. Their character sits on the ground, and displays a banner over their head. Putting mouse over the banner shows the name of the shop. The player can choose what items to sell, at what price. The purchaser gives the price and the trade happens automatically. The seller could also only sell a limited number of items at once, so they can't just list a hundred items and go AFK for days.

So you still have to be logged in to trade, and it's still face to face in the sense that you are in the same area in the game. But you don't have to sit there staring at trade chat, which is frankly horrible and incredibly boring.

It would be nice if PoE had a marketplace field where people could set up shops in that manner. You could sell stuff while you take a break, then come back and keep playing.

An easy way to exchange items in a game where items don't get 'used up' is a sure way to ruin the game economy. Diablo 3 showed that to boot!

You don't need to trade in PoE. It is quite feasible to play at least 95% self-found, though you'll not be able to jump directly to an 'I Win!' build.

This is my best build from before 2.0:
Spoiler
I traded for the Rathpith Globe, but everything else is self-found.

That build handled all game content except Atziri with ease (it was never intended to be able to do Atziri), even with a reasonable MF added in. If I can do it, so can anyone.

I'm currently levelling this build which should be able to do Atziri (once I get another 10 levels or so, currently at 77). Apart from Doryani's it is self-found too.
Spoiler
I found so funny ppl with mirrored gear mostly say NOOOOO.

Truth is game is quite hard for noobs and very hard to understand how all that currency works and buy / sell thing too.

I almost quit PoE because that, and I mostly reads forums and seek for info a lot. Plz don't be elitist pricks and give for new players some AH love. PoE needs that to achieve even bigger success.

I've seen the AH fail like in D3, but I've also seen it succeed like in WoW and Runescape.

The only reason I'm mostly self-found is because trading is grossly inconvenient to all players involved. I have to spend time needlessly searching poe.trade to find someone who is actively playing and willing to drop whatever they're doing to trade with me.

I just want a way to deposit my goods into an auction house, which players can search for and buy on their leisure, and require no further input from me beyond collecting the orbs I requested.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Sorry to say it, but exactly that is what's not going to happen. GGG employees (Chris specifically, others too) have repeatedly said that they want to implement a better trading system, but that it will never be fully automatic. In fact, they have stated that they had such a system (almost full automation) pretty much ready to go at one point, but decided not to release it because they felt it would hurt the game.

GGG wants trading to always involve some sort of player interaction.

I mostly agree with that stance, completely frictionless trading would severely hurt the feeling of the game in my opinion. There is a sweet spot where finding the item you want is easy enough, but not simply pulling up the auction house and clicking "buy". Trading without points of friction and interaction feels lifeless and doesn't mesh well with the setting of Path of Exile (-> see "exile").

I'm mostly ok with the amount of automation poe.trade provides, but I would want it to be integrated into the game so I don't have to see items from inactive players and I would want some sort of asynchronous trading system that doesn't require both parties to be in-game.

Ideally something where a potential buyer can make an offer (optionally attach a message) that "reserves" the offered currency. The seller should then be notified even while he is not in-game and have a way to accept that offer (through the game website and probably a mobile app too) and have the trade be performed instantly when he does that. Alternatively decline the offer/ask for a different offer with a message attached.
well maybe D3 auction house was not perfect, but atleast blizzard replaced it with the Loot v2.0, compared with PoE's Loot v0.5 where most of the loot gets identifyed and then just sold to the vendor and then back into the map to pickup more loot to sell to the vendor :)

i would also like to see some kind of trading system, maybe not a full blown AH as it was in D3, but some way i dont have to try and find what i need in trading chat or poe.trade where 9 out of 10 people seems to be afk and the the last person just refuse to switch league to sell the item he/she have listed.
