act 4 piety abomination help thread
" There is something very useful called Portal... Anyway, you translate what I wrote above and see how easy it is. Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

the most important thing PoE needs to address is that after death, you need to be respawned outside piety's room, or else you can spawn directly in the lazor and instadie again.
you should see her on merciless, it's heart warming (worming?). Second-class poe gamer Last edited by pr13st#1040 on Jul 15, 2015, 3:45:35 AM

Just pop quicksilver flask and run away from the laser. You can also tank it with Immortal Call since the laser is 100% phys (the bleed still applies). The adds hurt but they also die quickly.

" I think mobility is the key. I have a CI arc witch and I've had no trouble killing her. But I have played this part PvP-like : teleport / curse / arc, teleport / curse / arc, etc... I think you have to move move move, don't stand still for more than 1-2 seconds. Same thing for all the other bosses. You simply can't stand still and facetank these bosses, even with very good stats & gear. My ES is 8k, and my resistances are overcapped (all 150+) but I have a weakness against physical damage. Sometimes I'm losing 1/3 of my ES in one shot because of these red eyes on the ground, or because I fail to avoid a boss attack. So my advice once again : mobility ! I'm also using dual-curse abilities (conductivity + elemental weakness, triggered by a secondary arc linked to curse on hit). In a fraction of second, I'm greatly reducing my opponent's resistance to lightning (add penetration on top of that). If you have troubles damaging the bosses, maybe you should think about stacking curses, this is a very efficient way to boost your effective damage. |

After some more experience of this fight as a summoner I have a few points to add.
Beam avoidance - people have mentioned immortal call giving immunity as one option and raw armour to kinda eat it - how much needed for face tanking yet to be determined (assuming its even possible) The method I ended up adopting was to craft movement speed boots using the vendor recipe to keep upgrading (I went in with boots with 35% movement speed boost at the time). This added move speed is huge for being able to outrun the beam and weave between obstacles on route. It also meant it gave me time to cast whilst the beam was in progress. Another option I have seen is to abuse the movement skills - leap slam, lighting warp and other such "teleport" type skills to effectively jump over the beam. As a summoner this fight was a real pain (this applies to the final boss fight in act 4 to), the constant need to move and the almost instant death of minions means I had to adopt a different playstyle than usual. What I found was that expecting the minions to semi face tank was simply not going to happen - instead I had to rely on minion instabilty to get me through. Basically turn your skeletons into bombs and just endlessly throw at the boss whenever you get a chance to cast. Don't expect them to do any significant melee damage, they are there for the explosion damage when the boss one shots them. To that end you may want to switch up your gem configuration to help the casting or the bomb damage - for example - added cold damage / added choas damage and / or minion damage gems will all increase the explosion damage. Faster casting and maybe slapping them onto a spell totem is also an option (especially if you went dual totem). Spell echo is also an option, just be aware if self casting (ie skeletons / minion damage / faster casting / spell echo in a 4 link) that you will be locked in place for a brief period during the cast. As much I wanted the zombies to be part of the fight the mana cost of spamming them, the time to cast them and the need to slap a desecrate to prep the zombies it was just more efficient to vomit endless skeletons than trying to get the zombies out to. Even with 2 faster casting spell echo totems I rarely reached the minion limit before they were dead or the totems gone. And yes, it does suck as a summoner to have to go through that fight and the act4 end boss alsmot entirely on skeletons :( |

" Pretty sure the only gems that directly increase MI's damage are: Fire Penetration, Concentrated Effect, Minion Dmg and Minion Life. |

Its a wonder they released this fight in the current state.
Even though they lowered the damage in a patch it is redicously too hard. Its not balanced with other content at all. I wonder what GGGs balance team where thinking here? Probably they have done the fight 10000 times over and over, learnt every mecanic, every move and what skills to use e.t.c, then its probably way much easier. I totaly whipe the shit out of everything with my incinerator character unil now but this fight is almost impossible. And this is CRUEL not merciless, i wonder how its on merciless. I kill other bosses in a split second, doing 6k DPS tooltip (in CRUEL). How they can make such a incredible stepup in difficulty for just this fight? The content should be gradualy increasing in difficulty, not jump suddenly up 100 times. And the worst of all, i got DC in the middle of the fight. What happens when i imidealtly log in again? Got to do everything from start again, ie. fight all 3 bosses for organs. Allthough i have done it before it says you cant enter untill all 3 bosses are dead. This must be a programming misstake or? And if you die, (you will do) you restart in the middle of the fight without any time to recast auras,AA,minions etc. So unfair towards certain builds... I will skip the final boss fight in merciless and go straight to maps instead. This is what you wanted GGG, right? |

I've heard temporal chain slows down the beam, I haven't tried it myself yet.

Just got curb stomped in this fight when I reached it in cruel. Same story as most everyone else... did fine up to this point. I'm using an explosive arrow build that's not even that particularly squishy.
As soon as the beam taps me, I die instantly. There's no stun-lock death or anything, just an instant scream from my character. There were times when I died, respawned quickly (out of frustration) in the room and died again from the same beam. I could almost hear circus music going on in the background. I really hope this was unintended and that it will be fixed; otherwise I'll have to forgo a lot of builds I'd like to play just because act 4 would be too frustrating. |
