act 4 piety abomination help thread
I'm going to assume that I am not the only one that ran into a road block in act4 upon reaching piety abomination.
Survived everything else pretty much ok - but this ... After battering my head against this wall for over hour with no progress I'm turning to you lot in the hopes of getting some suggestions for what I should be doing to get through this. As it stands I do not know what damage types are being thrown about (I'm assuming fire from the looks of it) and what is or is not avoidable - yes, I'm talking about that rotating cone. From those who have passed this point or have had no trouble with it, how do you do the fight and is it a gear/skill check in some ways? Veterans of this fight please help out those who are about to run into this meat grinder.. |

Hi tirgor!
I got caught by this weird fight, too - playing an Arc+Summoning witch (with zombies and chaos golem for meat shield). Having had little to no trouble with both Kaom and Daresso, the Piety abomination handed me my butt on a plate. The main problem / thing to watch out for is that rotating cone/ray she emits. The only way you can avoid it is by being very close, and running circles around her (staying well 'ahead' of the rotation). As soon as you're hit - and eventually you might get hit - you'll suffer a significant HP drop and "corrupted blood" damage - if you don't stop the latter fast (staunching flask), you won't last long. The Piety abomination is located in the center at the start. It's reasonably possible to evade her initial attacks. However, additional (blood?) worms spawn rapidly - and if you don't take those down fast enough, you might end up with the area being severely crowded. This can add to the problems of avoiding Piety's attacks, as accidentally clicking the worms might cause your character to attack them instead of moving (depending on configuration). In case you die, you're likely to end up with a noticeably worse situation than what you started with - Piety might have relocated to a different position (e.g. closer to a wall), and the area might still be full of worms. Worst of all, the "Restart at checkpoint" option won't place you back before the entrance, but instead lets you respawn in the very same zone. This leaves you with little time to run up to Piety again to avoid her "deathray", and no time at all to (re)prepare for the battle (e.g. cast auras, summon minions). Players that try to use this option (to finish the fight) might end up finding it to be a very frustrating experience. I did not enjoy it at all, and considered this particular encounter extremely unbalanced with regard to the fights that preceded or followed it (Harvest). Regards, NiteHawk |

Patch notes mentioned the lazer being chaos lightning iirc.

I found this video, it's analyzing the laser attack:

With melee the strategy is basically hit her, dodge the beam, take bleed flasks for when you can't dodge it. IMMEDIATELY kill the nests that spawn the eyes as soon as they appear. Rinse and repeat ad nausium.
We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.

my 85 CI summoner witch got pasted by Piety Abomination. No time to put minions back up no time to get close to her to outrun cone of death. Near instantaneous kill even with 6k ES. I gave up after 1/2 an hour. Probably wont try again or at least will wait a longish while to try again
Forgot to mention 12k HP zombies popped almost as fast and 4khp skels insta popped Last edited by SimianJyhad#5678 on Jul 14, 2015, 1:34:53 PM

Uhmm the wanna add to the vides, the lazer always start smth like 90 degrees counter-clockwise of your position, so if you run around, always do it clockwise else you can run into a laser, also you can apply chilling ground on her from AA or arctic breath and she will rotate slower.

Horrible mal diseño. Tan malo que si uno pierde la paciencia se hace extremadamente facil... Me explico...
Sorry pero me aburri de intentar escribir en Ingles XD Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

Well I just killed her as melee. Was ugly, I died a number of times, but running my toon in circles around her and batting her with my fly swatter every once in a while eventually got the job done. My ice golem died very quickly every time I raised it - not sure what the point of putting in new skills that don't work against the bosses is?
Now my MAJOR GRIPE: There is NO way point anywhere near at the end of the fight! So you suffer through a long painful fight and you are supposed to run around the next zone for half an hour to find the way point? I had to log before I found it. When I came back I had to run all the way back from crystal vein to piety and .. you've guessed it ... no way thru without doing the piety fight again! I call total BS on this. Talk about ruin someone's enjoyment of the game. Now I will have run to piety and do the fight again tomorrow, then make sure I find the next way point before I log. I went quite a ways in after the fight but no way point (I got the first organ and went a little further, but had to log). Come on GGG, put a damn way point after the fight! |
