I'm still confused about the whole life leech change

Ok so it appears that life leech is worthless now. 2% becoming 0.4%. But some people are still saying it's good. I think there is something I'm not understanding. I play a ci phys wander that used to use blood rage and 2% leech on gloves. 7k es and 4k dps aoe and 10k single target. This was enough leech to keep me alive. With the new leech changes the values seem so low that I would practically have now way of gaining es ( I can't use blood rage now and I only have 0.4% on gloves). How exactly is leech still good and how could it still work for my phys wander? I did pick up Vaal pact with the new tree btw hoping it helped. Thanks in advance!

Then you need more. In 1.3, vaal pact had 40% effectiveness, now it has 100%, but leech values were globally reduced to 20% of previous values. So, you just need double the leech amount you had before and vaal pact for you will be exactly the same as before.

When not using vaal pact it gets a bit more complicated.

I didn't use Vaal pact before. I had about 8% leech from blood rage and gloves. I picked up vaal pact this time since it moved close to my progression through the tree. I thought getting Vaal pact would be better this time but since I leech almost nothing now there is no point right?

As I said, Vaal pact is about half as good as it was so get double the leech amount a vaal pact build would need in 1.3 and that's it.

And to be clear, getting twice as much leech for Vaal Pact is still much easier than matching the single-target leech from pre 2.0 for just about any build that doesn't start with Double Strike Multi Strike Faster Attacks.

the most important change that you can leech from multiple enemies at the same time. If you leech from like 10+ enemies then its still good. If you only leech from a few then it sucks. So in most bossfights leech is pretty bad now.

How could I possible double as much leech I need pre 2.0 if the values are lowered so much. I i ,say, needed 6%. You would have to get 12% in 2.0. No way can u get 12% let alone get 6%.

If getting 6% leech on gear was enough for VP back then, that means you effectively had 2,4%, you can get that much now.
