Suddenly Dying (Hardcore) issue for anyone?
|
I would like such a log for softcore as well.
I also think that instant death is pretty boring. And instant, inexplicable death is even more so. One time I died because the Warmonger's corpse exploded when a strongbox was opened by the rest of the party. The box was offscreen, but the chain of explosions reached all the way to me and that dead map boss. So that's something that others might want to watch out for in the future. At least it was a somewhat interesting instant death. |

I've insta-died a lot from mysterious circumstances. Like, a LOT. I'm perfectly willing to admit it's my own laziness/stupidity/lack of foresight, but it's still frustrating and confusing. This is why I play Standard!
I respect everyone who can put the time and energy into getting to 90+ in any HC league, but that's just not for me. I have almost 2k hours in PoE and believe I understand the game mechanics/build creation pretty well - at least within the bounds of what's acceptable on Standard - but it's apparently not enough to survive. I've put a lot of work and stress into this game, and I'm simply not willing to put more in order to avoid all deaths. That's not why I play videogames, I do it to relax and have fun. So I accept that I can't make it past level 94, and instead work on new toons and amassing some wealth/gear. Unfortunately, this system of play wouldn't work on HC, so I don't play HC and risk being labeled a filthy casual (what has the internet done to games? 2k hours is "casual?" wtf?). All of that being said, a death log would be extremely helpful for learning from our mistakes, which is exactly how PoE is designed to work. This would especially help new players, and send one of the many messages about genre/difficulty that GGG seems to fail at sending (hence new players being very confused by the game's difficulty and lack of internal info/explanation when they start out). It'd be like a sign saying "Learn from this! Don't do it again!" We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
