Combat Feels Slow and Clunky!!!
I normally play a big tanky bruiser type with the biggest weapon I can swing in these types of games (or any game really) but melee combat just annoys me in this game. Especially when I miss :/
Not just the slow speed, but the anemic sounds and effects as well. Been having a lot more fun since I finally broke myself of the melee habit and started playing ranged. Spells and bows for me from here on out unless they rework the melee aspects. A strange thing when poison arrow or ice spear feels like it packs more a more solid punch than glacial hammer. But it is what it is. Great game, but I agree melee needs something to make it as compelling as ranged. And this is ignoring any actual balance issues that may exist. |

" I was afraid of this. I refuse to play ranged to have fun when i hate casters/rangers classes. No disrespect for people who like to play them. In your face combat is more my thing instead of spell chucking or Arrow shooting behind a tree:P |

You are only level 15, my duelist (which I started last night, mind you) is sitting at level 50 with around 2.8 APS. The combat feels very fluid, using a quicksilver to get around the battle quickly and with higher attack speeds, the game doesnt feel clunky at all. Might be the weapon type you are using, if you are using 2h maces and have the slowest of those (0.95 APS base) then that would be quite annoying.

Try using Frenzy as your main attack? If you can sort out the mana for it.
" Every member of my group who began as melee and are die-hard-melee-caster-haters, has swapped to a Ranger and never looked back. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress. Last edited by GhostlightX#1022 on Feb 10, 2013, 8:48:27 PM

" Odd, I play 1hand Marauder and I was a wizard in D3 but I feel like I chop through things quicker in this game. Although I miss a lot, stuff still dies quickly =) |

Playing as a 1H sword and board shadow w/frenzy, flicker strike, double strike, puncture, whirling blades and a few support spells/totems I can say that combat never feels clunky and slow to me. Sure, I won't hit as hard as a 2H bruiser, but I'll hit a lot more often and have better field position. :)

I gets better as you level. I think the low levels do have a pretty clunky feel to them, and if I were to guess, I'd say that's the part of the game they did 5 years ago and their animation capability has improved.
Stick it out, it's worth it. You'll be glad you did when you hit 30 or so. |

imho, the delay should be shortened like 0.1-0.2 seconds then what it currently is.
