No White Sockets after equipping Malachai's Artifice

After having bought a Malachai's Artifice Amulet I equipped it but the mod "All Sockets are White" did not activate.
This is not just a visual bug as I was not able to insert a blue gem into a green socket for example.

Screenshot:
why do i think that mod only works on the sockets of the item itself oO?

It's a really badly-worded mod, and the item would be worth a ton if it did what you initially thought. "All Sockets are White" just means that the socket in the ring is always white.

Frankly it is kind of silly when it says "All sockets are white" when Rings can only have 1 socket.

yeaahh, once I saw the title of the thread and saw the picture I just let out this slight moan of sorrow...

OP, sorry bud. just applies to the ring like everyone else has stated.

Rule of thumb: if a modifier can apply locally, it is a local mod.
Isn't that ring the the most useless unique ingame? Ok, it looks nice so it can be used as a skin but apart from that.......

That ring is quite handy, it's a form of elemental equilibrium that doesn't force the full 'element cycling' style on the user. Just socket into it a quick spell of an element other than that your main skill and you've effectively got an additional elemental-weakness-type curse, only without having to worry about curse immunity or bosses' curse resistance.

For example, if you're a lightning or fire character, socket something like freezing pulse into it; when you hit an enemy with that freezing pulse, they'll lose 30% fire and lightning resist (which, again, won't be resisted by bosses or ignored by curse immunity). Just make sure the skill you're socketing into Malachai's doesn't cause any damage of the type you're intending to make the target weak to (which can be a problem if you're using the Heralds).

I've found it useful as a Glacial Cascade character by socketing Herald of Thunder right into it; whenever my HoT bolts strike a target, they lose resistance to cold and fire (and i don't have to worry about HoI getting in the way cuz HoI won't add cold damage to HoT's bolts).

Yeah, very great idea, as long as you think your other gears can compensate for sacrifice of a lot of res, life and other useful mods on that ring slot. If only I can manage that, I'll use it for my Mjolner discharger...

Ah, yet another "Troll mantle is useless" kind of post. I love those. Cookie cutters everywhere. :)

This ring is ok, very interesting idea and it actually is useful if you know how to use it.
Not BiS, not stupidly high stats.

Altho I do have to agree that wording is pretty unfortunate. I think they should simply hide that mod, so it doesn't cause confusion. Simply make that slot always white. Or remove it altogether - not like rerolling such ring is hard, or something...
