Mob's physical damage it's insane
Before the usual fanboys come and tell "QQ thread", "rant thread", "learn to play", "you are crying"... as if ranting it's a shameful action and not an user's legit right... no, this time it's NOT a rant, but an overall thinking of a player that slowly becomes (a little) experienced.
Today, well knowing the many deaths that will be come, i made the daily Zana (lvl 70 Dry peninsula, with + 83% monster damage as cold) with my lvl 67 cyclone discharger coc scion. She has only 2.850 life for now (still building), but 76% ice res, so i made this daily just to test the future difficulty for my toon. After all, with this build the exp loss will be regained quickly, so no prob at all. First death: cannibal's torches. TWO. Ok i have only 40% fire res for now (i play almost entirely self found). No prob. Second death: desync. Applause to ggg for stealing exp even if they well know that their game has desync ;) I still don't know WHO killed me ^.^' Third death: FUCKING CHIMERALS -.- Yeah, the usual chimerals -.- I have decent reflexes (not super human ones, but neither old man's ones), but trust me: i play with 3 fingers already posed on 1,2,3 buttons (flask ones), and i didn't had the time TO PUSH DOWN them that i was already dead!!!! I had barely the time to see my life downed to one millimeter height by the first one and my exile frozen. After a millisecond, the second chimeral killed me. Trust me guys i'm NOT exagerating. All this shit happened BEFORE i could even give pressure on flask buttons with fingers already on to them!!! -.- OBVIOUSLY chimerals came FROM OFF SCREEN (-.-), and... as if their speed and their RANGE (they are capable of covering 3/4 of the screen nearly at an exile's speed under quicksilver) are not enough, they were blue. SWIFT chimerals. Now i ask... i was doing this map just for test. But what if a guy was playing hardcore? What is all this damage, and all of a sudden? Ok i'm glass cannon, ok there was 80% more ice damage.... but behind these two blue chimerals there was another 6-7.... so a normal player will have died like me i think. Other death: yellow bear (bear without +dmg mods on it). ONE SHOT O.O UNDER GRANITE FLASK O.O Again.... too much mob's physical damage. You can say... too much damage... or it's you that is glassy? No... because 3 days ago with my lv 80 ES witch (11k ES, 1.2k ES regen per sec) i was nealy killed by those fucking whipping miscreations (another exagerated phys dmg mob, with chimerals and devourers) in merciless lunaris. They were FOURTEEN lvls below me, but 7-8 of them nearly killed me with thei first attack, and only a granite of warding saved me from vulnerability. So IT'S NOT a matter of how much life you have. It's a matter of too much phys damage and too little mitigation. Now with the new patch the mob s will hit harder? WRONG WRONG CHOICE... you will lose a lot of players This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

You did a lvl 70 map w/ under 3k life, as melee w/o capped res? So the game is suppose to balanced around character doing content they clearly aren't able to?
Also 11k ES dying in lunaris, either it was an extremely unlucky situation or incredibly bad play, either way it's not a normal occurrence. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th
Finished 18th in Torment/Bloodline 1mo Race - peaked at 9th Null's Inclination Build 2.1.0 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1559063 Summon Skeleton 1.3 - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1219856 |

Well desync you cant do anything about i died before with 8K es in docks a 62 map. Normal play u can tho.
literally dozens of physical mitigation schemes are out there. 1. invulnerable immortal call 2. High evasion and dodge with leech - odds are u get hit once and have time to leech/pot back before next. you can get 90% chance to totally miss attacks between dodge and EV 3. armor 4. lightning coil 5. taste of hate 6. granite flask with 95% added armor 7. massive ES or life pool, big DPS and instant leech (aka sponge build) take any hit and instantly heal it back on your counter attack 8. Arctic Armor ... basically yeah man l2p phys is really a joke in this game with so many way to deal with it. Elemental is way harder and 75% resits just dont do. Git R Dun! " That with glassy scion was merely a test. Still, it's foolishness to let a yellow, in a medium level map, hit for 3k damage under granite. And let's even assume that i had 5k life (usual for many players). I would have been 2 shotted. It's too much for non end game content... it's not apex of sacrifice eh? :/ For what concerns my ES exile... bad play? No, i well know how to move and act :) It's not player's fault when a game has nearly to zero physical mitigation (for gaining it, you must spend tons of skill points, while elemental resists are found for free on gear), unless you sacrifice the uniques that you need to equip or the "special stats" yellow that you must wear, only to put up some semi useless armour gear, counting diminishing returns too. It's not player's fault when a mob hits too hard and at every single hit you are under vulnerability. Ok there are "warding" flasks and i used one, but what means does have a flask, if it lasts only near 4 seconds and after this time you are cursed again and it is halved in charges? For the record, with my ES witch i have 1.3k es regen/sec (i have invested all the build to reach this result, sacrifing HEAVILY dps), but for example against chimerals i still risk to die... under granite too!!!!! Physical damage must be reworked. OR not mitigated by armor like now, but reduced monster side... OR maintained hard like now but with flat % damage reduction on gear (like elemental resists). But NOT hard AND poorly mitigated. I give an advice to ggg. Do not raise the mob's damage without reworking armour, because fortify will become a mandatory choice, and this will hurt builds diversity. And on a side note: another chunk of increased damage and many players will leave forever, because people it's sick of getting one shotted, and this exagerated phys damage hurts gameplay too, even if you are experienced. An example? Go see Mathil and his videos of "fakener" build: going to kill atziri with his cycloner, he MUST pop out immortal call at every vaal fallen to not be one shotted!!! This it's not difficulty, this it's BAD DESIGN |

" L2p? I WELL KNOW all these methods, but you know... 1 immortal call it's ridicolous. In 31 year of gaming experience i have NEVER played "god mode", and i will certainly not begin now 2 i have an eva char (building now). Really good but you know... DIVERSITY means to not bore themselves and try DIFFERENT builds 3 armor sucks. In the past i had a marauder with good armour... but all the rest were a shit because armor "costs" like crit but without the crit advantages 4 coil.. i have a legacy one. Trust me tryed one time and put back in stash: death comes even with coil 5 taste of hate... 4 secs... wow -.- still i ll buy one just for test 6 i had tons of granites. They are useful and i love them, i agree 7 massive ES? Here i am XD still, don't you think that it's stupid to risk to die with 11k ES, 1.3k regen/sec (zealoth oath) -that it's like being constantly under sapping eternal flask-, leech from arc (weak weak arc, but present and max chaining) AND granite... vs mobs FOURTEEN levels below (64 vs 80)? LEARN TO PLAY? Oh my -.- 8 tryed in the past. Good, but after the nerf i abandoned it Side not: elemental harder? Maybe, but for my ES exile the only one time i risk to die has been for many crits at once by warp totems in shock and horror fight + storm heralds. Trust me: with good regen and 76% resist, i can withstand her so much feared laser for 15+ seconds 90% of the time (i must break line of sight only when it, being thunder, luckily hits very hard on me). And this is my skill'sachievement? NO. This it's because elemental, differently from physical, has SERIOUSLY THINKED RESISTANCES Last edited by Wispo#5031 on May 7, 2015, 8:48:26 AM

You were underleveled & undergeared for such content. A lvl 67 with 2.8k life and uncapped resists, should still farm Docks, Lunaris, Library or do no-dmg mods 66s.
Extra cold damage is one of the most dangerous map mods. Even a char of appropriate level & gear will get wrecked by bears & chimerals. Extra cold also causes more desynce than usual, because of chills & freezes. Using Cyclone you are in melee range all the time. How much armor, block, spell block...?? You knew in advance that your char is not read for this content, so I don't see the point in this thread. Also, whipping bitches apply vulnerability curse on hit (another very dangerous map mod, btw). Pair that with an extra damage or haste aura and they will destroy almost any char. 11k ES in this case is not much, cause you don't have any armor to mitigate damage. In such cases flasks are not enough, you have to start using enfeeble, TC, totems, kiting / splitting groups, enduring cry, IC... When night falls

" Yes mate i know i were sub par, but i repeat: was only a test for "imaginating" how that exile would act in higher level content :) I described discharge scion in comparison to ES witch only to tell ggg a thing: they are providing us FREE a GOOD game, nearly as good as that monster of Titan quest, and without being professionals like Iron lore guys were, and for this i THANKS ggg. But they need to hear WAY MORE the complaints of peole. Not only the NERF THIS AND NERF THAT complaint threads... but exspecially the threads in wich people complain about deaths, because it's THERE that "born" an unhappy player, a player that will probably leave PoE forever. Side note: the whipping miscreations were white ones, in lunaris merciless, with no totem or rare empowering them. How much ES must one have to resist physical in this game? 20k? -.- I clearly remember when i first encountered lvl 65 (or 66 i don't remember) Ossecati boneshaper. It one shotted my 9k ES -.- Last edited by Wispo#5031 on May 7, 2015, 9:30:52 AM

" Well now you know :) Seriously, extra cold + leaping chimerals or devourers is one of the worst things you can roll on a map. In HC I'd say thanks but no thanks to such map (unless godly geared) The 'extra cold' is not just extra cold, but also slower attack speed because of chill or no attack speed if frozen. It's not a pyhs. damage issue. " I'm not really experienced with ES builds, cause I play almost exclusively life-based ones. But quest content whippers were never a problem, unless paired with some nasty auras or other factors (BL mods, for example). " The fun fact it's that i were frozen only one time (chimeral death.. because they ALWAYS come from off screen so i didn't popped my granite of heat -i have 2 granites, heat and warding- togheter), but the difficulty came from chilled ground (it was there, too), extreme damage (ok to poor hp) and desync (cyclone + rohas + chimerals it's desync festival -.- ). Oh mate i forgot: on my ES witch, on top of 11K ES, 1.3k Regen and 2 granites, i have CWDT (lvl 1) + enfeeble, so every time i take 440 damage, enfeeble tames everything. But whipping women are too much damaging.... well now i have the will to build an anti physical toon, but i already knw that it will suck bad in dps :/ |

I feel sorry for you received those cloaked L2P replies.
The issue with your deaths is connected to the "One Shot = Difficulty" philosophy. Before 0.10.1 or 0.10.2 you could create tanky characters and they chance of dying was quiet low. Even nerfed Granite Flasks were enough to reduce the majority of damage. After that patch the damage tables changed to ridicolous amounts to make Evasion more viable and high armor and resists more important. This change meant that now you should already be at 75% resists and you still might take 30-40% hits from white mobs. The reduced only can be used to count on endurance charged rather than the outdated formula in your character screen. Basically you have 3 ways to play this game: 1. "Don't touch me" aka you stay on distance 2. MMORPG outdamage-->kill before you get hit which requires a lot of farming/trading 3. Gamble aka go evasion 4. Trade top tier gear to bypass gearchecks such as 85% resists.75% block, 30k armor... It's just the design flaw because the map level doesn't has anything to do with the damage you take. You can to a Grotto Map and laugh against the silly damage. You can do dunes/Orchard and get OneShot or almost 1 shot. |
