Why dex doesnt increase as and int spell damage?

I see no reason to fiddle around with the basis of attributes, since it means everything has to get a recalculation to not make some builds completely irrelevant, ie. nobody would run melee in HC if you'd get sp dmg from int. I see an abundance of cheap builds that apply damage from range and far less melee builds. Because having range application is so much EHP through strategic engaging, melee NEEDS something to counterbalance it without bringing that balance from skill gems.

Balancing attributes through skill gems sounds pretty bad way to advance.

Related to attributes, one thing I would like to see is rounding the elemental affixes out of the attribute framework. By this I mean fire elemental damage would not primarily be related to STR gems, cold to DEX and lightning to INT. Especially since the devs have themselves have stated they would love to add more elemental types. That's thrown way into the future, though, which makes me somewhat sad. Hopefully, when, and if we get more elemental damage types, the attribute framework will be revisited.

There's a funny story behind that. Apparently, devs claim there is no such elemental association and the only one that exists is STR - physical, INT - elemental.

Long ago I suggested a slight rework to elemental conversion skills like Glacial hammer in regards to weapon association according to stat requirements (back when we had only GH, LS and IB). Imagine my surprise when I found out all melee elemental skills are actually STR-INT aligned.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

in an hypothetical perfect game you could still see patches and expansions.
Since when someone patched chess? I think last one was a few centuries ago.
